"As the saying goes "It isn't what you have or who you are or where you are or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about it."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj elucidates importance of our way of thinking in our Self Quest. He says, One who thinks little errs much. Unless he weeds his own mind, he is apt to be overrun by nettles.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, for One blinded by ignorance, the sense gratification is the ultimate joy. However for One absorbed in worship of GOD, the feeling of contentment from within is Him.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, unless we decide what we really desire, we will not be able to differentiate between what is good or what is bad and this will ensue in only aimless wandering of our mind. Hence he insists the seeker on the journey of Self Realisation to set his goal so that appropriate way of thinking will follow suit.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Self Realisation is a way of thinking which does not happen spontaneously, for meaningful change requires a specific and deliberate act of will. He says, the journey of Self Realisation is making Oneself better with each new realisation about Self."

It is said that "If the Creator stood before a million men with the light of a million lamps, only a few will truly see Him because Truth is already alive in their hearts. Truth can only be seen by those with Truth in them. He who does not have Truth in his heart, will always be blind to it."
There is an innate nature in man to seek GOD. But to many, GOD is too abstract and 'up' there. He is too far away, unseen and unknown and hence man strives for something he can feel and relate with, to give him a sense of worship.
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about Devotion, which is unparalleled among all other kinds of worship, in the sense that it can be pursued by anybody without distinction. He says, GOD is Spirit and hence One must seek Him in Spiritual way which is Devotion. Devotion is a journey to become One with GOD. In other words a transition from Duality to Non Duality or from false ego sense to egolessness. The stream of Devotion is most ideal to seek GOD.
Learned men often get trapped in the arrogance emanating from their expertise. In a way their bookish knowledge promotes their "I - ness" thus keeping them in bondage of Duality forever.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, GOD knows when to send you exactly what you need, and hence by Grace of GOD, Devotion comes in our life."

"Every experience arise in Duality, in the form of opposite and contrast. It is only illusion, caused by the mind and the play of senses, which makes us see the world and everything in it as real and separate from us. In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about Duality, being an Illusion in itself, is the root cause of Fear. He says, Fear is an emotional reaction for something other than you and hence Duality becomes an inherent part of fear. When ropes are mistaken for snakes, there are indeed snakes there, but only illusory ones. At the moment of illusion, the ignorance in the perceiver instantly creates that illusory snake. Upon dispelling of illusion, that illusory snake is sublated by correct knowledge of rope. He says, our experience of the world around is also an illusion created by Cosmic Ignorance. The analogy of Rope mistaken for a Snake helps us to remove the misunderstanding of our True Nature which is Pure Consciousness. Once the misunderstanding is removed, our True Self stands revealed within.
In another analogy Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, a lonely traveller in a parched and hot desert, sees a broad stream of water. In deserts, this Mirage is an Illusion, a trick of our vision. The Mirage thus rejects the reality and deceives us with falsehood. We are like the traveller illusioned by Mirage. The Eternal Truth which we reject is always within us. However, in Ignorance, we accept the Mirage like appearance of the world around as the reality which is the chase to eternity.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like Gold is the base of every kind of jewellery made from it, GOD is the Supreme Essence of everything in this colourful universe. In other words Duality is always secretly Unity.
He says, just like a fowler makes a dummy bird stuffed with feathers solely for deception, Maya the Mistress of Illusion lures us to accept the illusion of "I am the body" idea.and it appears  to us as That which Is Not.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, all Duality is mind's creation and beyond all Dualities lies the Indivisible Oneness."

"It is said that "Things change in the blink of an eye. Everything happens for reason, but GOD only knows why."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, what happens to us in this life is not solely the result of our actions of this life but due to the cumulative result of our actions of the past lives. He says, everything is predetermined, the beginning as well as the end, by forces over which we have no control.
You can will what you want, but you can't will what you will. However if everything is done assuming that not you, but only GOD is the Doer then you remain detached from its effects, good or bad. In a way the incessant accumulation in the storehouse of Sanchit Karma gets aborted at least for time being. It then becomes a win win situation.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, we often regret when something precious to us is lost. However if we assume that we have offered that precious thing to GOD then there is no regret and to have no regret is to be free of "I -ness" at least infinitesimally which is so vital to knock on the door of Self Realisation.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, our True Nature is like a blue sky. When we know who we really are, the clouds of ignorance and all negative emotions dissipate promptly. What remains is Pure Unblemished Self, our capacity for Divinity and Transcendence."

"It is said that "Like a watch, the heart needs the winding of purity, or the Supreme Indweller ceases to speak."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the Supreme Bliss of the Heart is the most miraculous stirring from the depths of existence. He says, our individual Self is the Absolute Supreme Self. However man doubts it when the the sense of duality caused by "I am the body" idea muddles his True Nature. Unless One unburdens his sense of "this is mine" or "this is yours"  consciously, there is no way out.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, man is slave of his fate. Just like seasons, the happiness and sorrow come and go. And hence One must maintain poise regardless of whether he feels elated by happiness or feels sad by sorrow, for there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, inculcating a habit of saying that only GOD is the Doer and everything happens by His Will is a beautiful way to look at this worldly life in detached manner. This saves One from personalising the things happening around, good or bad. In a way it is a conscious suppressing of "I am the body" idea which is so vital on the journey of Self Realisation.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Purity of Heart is the transparency to Truth. Only when One's Consciousness becomes free from the distortions of attachment, the door to the Supreme Bliss ajars and One sees the glimpses of the Divine Splendour in its full glory."

"It is said that "A monkey's transformed body weds the human mind. Mind is a monkey - this, the truth profound."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about our mind, which is just like a crazy monkey that is always dying to escape the moment or in other words to escape the reality. He says, We are all lies waiting for the day when we will break free from our cocoon and become the beautiful truth we waited for. He says, it's not that we are not aware of the eternal truth that our body is perishable and it is diminishing with every passing moment. But "I am the body" idea has such a powerful grip on us that we tend to assume this body as the truth, when we know it is not. He says, One must come to his senses and realise that, a day will come when he will wake up and  will find that there won't be any more time left to do the things which were expected to be done in this rarest of rare human birth.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, all our worldly relations and possessions are but offsprings of our body centric thinking. They are as fleeting and impermanent as the body. We have nothing that is really our own, but we hold everything as a loan, so is this body in human birth which must be employed consciously to know the True Nature of our Self.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, time is running out with every flutter of an eyelash. We must make a conscious effort to make sure that every moment of this precious human birth counts."

"It is said that "Feed your faith and your doubts will starve to death."
GOD will meet all our needs. He feeds the birds and clothes the grass with the splendour of lilies. How much more, then will He care for us who are made in His image? Our only concern should be Faith in Him and hence leave the consequences to Him.
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj has elucidated  dialogue with his conditioned mind. He says, the aura of "I am the body" idea is so powerful  in man, it makes him believe that onus of getting food for survival is only his. But he forgets that we are all children of GOD and He feeds us, not we. GOD bestows his blessings without discrimination.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, a Cuckoo bird (चातक पक्षी) is believed to drink rain water drop by drop as it pours down. However thirsty it may be, it does not drink any other kind of water. But in summer when there is still time for rains to come, the Cuckoo calls on the Rain GOD to make it rain and it is said that it's call is always answered.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, a jewellery maker pays very meagerly to his artisans while earns handsomely on his trade. The artisans however can still capture every last particle of gold dust by filtering the gold ash. In a way GOD compensates the artisans for their misfortune of getting very less for their intricate work.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, of all the innumerable species of Creation, none except man have a tendency of stockpiling for future needs. This tendency springs from uncertainty, which in itself is his lack of faith in GOD. He says, faith in GOD doesn't reduce uncertainty, but faith embraces uncertainty.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, for all the worries of future, we need to do one thing consciouly,
Give it to GOD and go to sleep."

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, believing that not he, but GOD is the Doer of all things is like leaving everything in GOD'S HAND, for GOD Consciousness is not felt, it is your own Self."

In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about Immortality as nothing but becoming One with the Eternal Self. In other words realisation of Immortal Self is the True Immortality. He says, when One churns his soul in the Name Worship of GOD, Truth becomes manifest. The incessant recital of Holy Ram Nam is the way to go beyond the Body Consciousness and becoming One with GOD Consciousness. In a way the Name Worship of GOD is a royal way of attaining Immortality and Eternal Bliss. The reasonless Name Worship of GOD done with utmost devotion pleases Him most.

"I Am He, the Lord Supreme", is the natural vibration of the Self, which occurs spontaneously with each incoming and outgoing breath. The unborn soul is aware of its Oneness with the Supreme Self. However with birth everything suddenly changes and the soul now assuming a form comes under the spell of Maya, the Mistress of Illusion. The touch of this spell gives rise to "I am the body" idea thus making the newborn to cry as "I Am The Body" instead of  "I Am He", which is the expression of his disconnection from all pervading Supreme Consciousness.
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj elucidates this thought. He says, as soon as One is born, the Maya robs the Body Consciousness, stealing the memory of its connection with Supreme Consciousness, and hence the Body Consciousness laments of this profound loss.
He says, "I am the body" idea which is born from ignorance is the root cause of all sufferings. Due to this ignorance One is unable to discriminate between what is good and what is bad for him. And hence One remains unaware even if something precious is stolen from him. The body centric thinking makes this happen and hence One tends to give undue importance to this ever dwindling body instead of doing conscious effort of transcending beyond Body Consciousness in this rare human birth.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Conscience being man's compass, One must use the the sense of discrimination, a faculty unique to we humans, to make this rare human birth worthwhile, because life is too short and the time is always right to do what is right."

"It is said that "The Wisdom tends to grow in proportion to One's awareness of One's ignorance. As our awareness grows, so we grow."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about paramount importance of awareness in Self Quest. This awareness is a key to make proper choices so that unpleasant consequences can be avoided. He says, One is free to choose, but not free from the consequence of his choice. In a way knowledge of consequences helps One to keep him on track of attaining the highest, the Self Realisation.
He says, there is an inherent sense in everyone to know what is  good for him and what is harmful to him. Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, we have to make use of this deeply ingrained sense in us to make choice of the right path in our Self Quest.
Illustrating with beautiful analogy he says, just like our instinctive reflex of protecting our eyes which happens when the irritating grain of sand sits in the corner of our eye, we must protect ourselves from all things which are detrimental to our Self Quest.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, by instinct One favours his children more than other children, It is this sense of discrimination which GOD has gifted to we humans, helps us to discriminate bewtween what is good and what is harmful to us on our journey of Self Realisation.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, awareness of true purpose of this rare human birth is paramount over everything else and just like a farmer stores seeds for his future requirements, we must constantly think of making utmost of this precious human birth to attain Self Realisation which is our ultimate goal."

"Liberation ( मोक्ष) is freedom from ignorance, We suffer because of ignorance, for it is the sense of not knowing Oneself. Our Conditioned Consciousness of "Me" and "Mine" is very strong in us. The "I am the body" idea never let's it's guard down and is ever alert.
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the notion of "I am the body" idea when it is not, is the root cause of all sufferings. Every matter is made of five basic elements, Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether so is human body. At death the five basic elements get dissolved into the Mighty Creation. However the false ego sense that envelopes the body as soon as it comes into existence needs to be annihilated with conscious effort, else it will be an aimless wandering.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the perishable body dwindles with every passing moment. Its degeneration is beyond human control. Holding dearly "I am the body" idea is just like carrying a heavy burden. A donkey carries a heavy load on its back, but it is unaware as well as least interested of what he is carrying. However we the humans, with our sense of discrimination, know the nature of burden we are carrying which is "I-ness" and hence must consciously do everything possible to offload it, otherwise there is no way out of the gruelling cycle of deaths and rebirths. He says, Liberation (मोक्ष) is  not entering into a mere void and there losing yourself, but it is entering into Truth, becoming part of Truth, for there is no GOD higher than Truth."

"It is said that "In reality there is only Consciousness. All life is Conscious, all Consciousness - Alive."
In reality, only the Ultimate Is. The rest is matter of name and form.
Behind all multiplicity of this manifold universe, the One Unconditional Supreme Consciousness persists in all its splendour. All forms emerge out of this Supreme Essence, remain sustained by it and ultimately merge back into it.
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about Non Duality, where to live in the known is bondage, and to live in the unknown is Liberation. He says, all beings are in this Supreme Self and the Supreme Self is in all beings.
Illustrating with beautiful analogies he says, a tree born of a seed blossoms into a bountiful harvest of fruits, for fruits yield the seeds again. Similarly One can never remain away from his very Essence which has no beginning, or no end..The fruit which is effect cannot remain away from its seed which is the cause, for the effects are born of their cause, exist in their cause and merge back to become One with the cause.
In another analogy he says, the wave and ocean are One, just as our Self and Supreme Self are One. Just like waves are only an expression of ocean, we are all expressions of One Homogeneous Consciousness and we are that consciousness itself. The waves have no existence apart from ocean. they emerge out of ocean and ultimately merge back into the ocean. Similarly matter in the form of our bodies ripples out of Supreme consciousness and in the end we merge back into the Supreme Essence.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like we and our reflection in the mirror does not make us two individuals, the Life Giving Spirit is only One and everything is filled with His Glory."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about the paramount importance of the Name Worship of Supreme Lord, which is easily accessible to to His true devotee, but is equally unattainable for the One who does not believe in Him from within.
He says, condemned is the One who displays flashy pompousness under the pretext of being a devotee, for One who wears a mask of piousness but holds evil intent from within is a genuine hypocrite. Talking about Faithless Prayer Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, meditating of Holy Ram Nam with mind flooded with desires is worthless, for Faith furnishes Prayer with wings, without which it cannot soar to heaven.
He says, only when One believes in what he is doing, he will not feel embarrassed doing it. And hence Sant Tukaram Maharaj emphasises the importance of reciting the Holy Ram Nam loudly and clearly, for it needs no particular orientation or education. It is beyond the realm of ritualistic practices and it cannot be confined within the boundaries of social discrimination as well. The Name Worship of Supreme Lord is the only way to be free from the bondage of unending cycle of deaths and rebirths.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, life is very short and the shadow of death looms over the head constantly. He says, the journey from visible "Macro World" to the Invisible "Micro Supreme Consciousness" must be done through the " Micro Means" which is nothing but the " Holy Ram Nam."

"Fearlessness is a result of faith in Oneself and faith in GOD. In other words it happens only when there is a perfect confluence of mind with itself or when One attains Self Realisation.
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, fear is just a thought and thoughts can be changed. He says, One needs to learn how to select his thoughts just the same way he chooses his clothes every day, Our life is shaped by our mind, for we become what we think.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, One must never ignore his conscience, yet always be conscious of reason. Only when your heart and mind will become friends, you will have the contentment from within throughout life's seasons.
He says, the most difficult hurdle in the Self Quest is the veil of Maya, the Cosmic Charmer, that casts a mesmerising spell and misleads us from knowing the True Nature of out Self. Maya is synonymous with "I am the body" idea or "I-ness". And the only way out is to perform One's duty without attachment, surrendering the results to GOD, just like a Lotus remains untouched by water.
The true worship is merging your Subconscious into GOD Consciousness through Silent Contemplation, for Silence is'nt empty, it's full of answers.

"It is said that "Life is matter of choices, and every choice you make makes you."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj elucidates the paramount importance of making a right choice to make most of this rare human birth in the journey of Self Realisation, else there will be no way to end the unending cycle of deaths and rebirths.
He says, GOD isn't about making good things happen to you, or bad things happen to you. He is all about you making choices, exercising the gift of free will. You have to choose actions complementing your Self Quest.
When it comes to making the right choices, what matters most is not the appearance, for appearances are often deceptive, but the very Essence.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj has explained this with a beautiful analogy. He says, this worldly existence firmly in the grip of "I am the body" idea is but a marketplace. You are free to choose, but you are not free from the consequences of your choice.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, it is dangerous to trust everything One sees, because even Salt looks like Sugar. Hence  the seeker of  Supreme Self must be careful of choosing the right merchandize in this market. Just like every truth has two sides, One must be careful while making the choice only on the basis of the appearance and ignoring it's inevitable other side.
Getting attracted by outer appearance is nothing but sense gratification which springs from "I am the body" idea. And hence choosing on appearance is holding the "I am the body " idea dearly which is detrimental for the Self Quest.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the intent of buying the glittery merchandise is in a way a voluntary approval of being content in the whirlpool of desires and hence feeling safe in "I am the body" idea.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, making the right choice is not difficult if One knows what he seeks. A constant Self Enquiry leads One to make the right choice by merits rather than the outer appearance and it is the key to unlock the door to Self Realisation."

"For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Since time immemorial, alll our actions or deeds( कर्म), or everything we think, feel or do is recorded in the Cosmic Hard Drive. This is Sanchit Karma, the totality of all accumulated deeds from our past lives. Only if One does every action assuming that GOD and not he is the Doer, then that action does not get added to the basket of Sanchit Karma. In a way the constant accumulation in Sanchit Karma gets halted. In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the Name Worship of Supreme Lord Pandurang accompanying every action is nothing but giving Doership of all our actions to GOD. He says, the moment lived in the Name Worship of Supreme Lord as well as actions done in that moment along with Name Worship are not counted when it comes to the tally of Sanchit Karma. There is no escape from unending cycle of deaths and rebirths unless the basket of Sanchit Karma becomes empty. This precious human birth is an opportunity, not to let a single moment pass without the Name Worship of Supreme Lord Pandurang, as it is the only chance to transcend beyond the repeated sufferings.
With the incessant recital of the Supreme Lord Pandurang, One can consciously put a stop to the additions to Sanchit Karma basket so that slowly but steadily One can inch closer on his journey of Self Quest, which is possible only in this rare human birth."

"It is said that "Soft words soften the hearts that are harder than rock, harsh words harden hearts that are softer than silk."
It is the inner bond that draws one person to another, not words. To be fully known and truly loved is a lot like being loved by GOD.
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about the bond of love, for Love builds bridges where there are none. He says, Love is a bridge to Divine Love. Yet, those who have not had a taste of it do not know.
Illustrating with beautiful analogy he says, a Bumble Bee capable of carving a wood is lured by the enticing aroma of a flower, for the flower doesn't dream of the Bee. It blossoms and the Bee comes. Just like the rich fragrance of flower, Love softens the hardest edges of life's tumult.
In another analogy he says, a father of a child may have a  discrete demeanour but feels tender vulnerability to his child from within, for we are never so vulnerable as when we love.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, if Faith can move Mountains, Love can move the World."

Shiva (शिव) and Jiva (जीव) are nothing but the Supreme Self and Individual Self. Just as a mirror reflects the objects in itself. We cannot separate the mirror from its reflection. We cannot say that reflection is the mirror itself. Yet we cannot separate the two also. Similarly the Jiva thrives on Shiva like a reflection.
Jiva (जीव) is haunted by spell of Mistress of Illusion Maya, which makes him forget of his True Nature. The Jiva becomes engrossed in "I am the body" idea  taking him far away from his True Quest, the Self Realisation.
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about the relationship between Jiva and Shiva (जीव - शिव), as a relationship between Duality and Non Duality or between Difference and Non Difference.
He says, Jiva is but Shiva in the embodied form who contains within him both Purusha and Prakriti. Purusha is the Supreme Consciousness which is all pervading and Eternal and Prakriti is materiality and dynamism of the whole creation. In Jiva, Purusha is passive while Prakriti is active so is the natural inclination to seek frivolous material pursuits. Jiva is thus a Divine Being caught in the labyrinth of worldly existence. The dominant "I am the body" idea in Jiva compels him to assume that he is the Doer, when he is not.
Illustrating with beautiful analogy Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like a thirsty deer running behind a mirage, deluded by the luminous glow of moon light reflected from the sands in the desert, mistakes it for water from a long distance. The deer eagerly rushes to the spot but in vain. Again looks ahead and finds the flash of mirage appearing like an oasis far away. Again and again the deer makes the same blunder. Similar is the fate of man driven by the thirst of sense gratification which leads him to doom unless he wakes up from his deep slumber and does a conscious effort to make this rare human birth fruitful. "

"It is said that "There is more love in separation than in union, for in union the beloved is found in one place only, while in separation the beloved is found everywhere."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about, "In Form Devotion (सगुण भक्ती)." He says, it is very difficult to worship an Unmanifested GOD, but it is much easier to focus our mind on a Manifested Form of GOD and worship Him. As soon as we talk about worship, there arises a sense of Twoness or Duality. He says, in a way, In Form Devotion or (सगुण भक्ती) is merely a medium of attaining Self Realisation by transcending the Duality.
GOD is everywhere and in everything, but is beyond the grasp of limited human intellect. This human birth is a rare opportunity to attain Oneness with GOD Consciousness or the Formless GOD. But the medium through which we can reach this goal is through the Embodied Form of GOD Consciousness, Saguna.(सगुण ब्रम्ह).
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Duality is separation and separation intensifies the experience of love. Just like parting from our loved One, increases our remembrance, thoughts and absorption in that person, so is the sense of Duality, which intensifies the devotion to GOD. And hence when meditation in separation fuels the intense longing, GOD embraces us and reciprocates with us from within
He says, Name Worship of Supreme Lord is a meditation to see GOD within us. He says, our True Self is the Silent Witness that observes everything that goes on within and needs no ritualistic appendages.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, One need not look for GOD in sky, but search Him within the heart, for He hears even the very Silent Prayer of a Sincere Heart."

"We never get what we want, We never want what we get, We never have what we like, We never like what we have. That's Life."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about our endless desire for more, more and more.
This insatiable desire for more is nothing but seeking fulfilment outside ourselves, rather than within.
Our conditioned mind makes us believe that happiness is found through what we are able to achieve and aquire. He says, what few people understand is that the more you want, the more you seem to lack.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, to the mind, there is never enough. With every desire chased, you lose the Inherent Awareness Eternally present in you to the false sense of lack, rather than fullness of your being, your True Nature. With evey thing you want, you lose yourself even further.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, a conscious effort to find out what you are actually looking for, is much needed. We must make a Self Probe to find out if there is any end to our wanting or when will it be? We must look within and find out if our life has become an endless pursuit for something which will hardly bear its promised fruit.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, to escape the false egoic need for more, we must realise that, in the quest for happiness, Nothing is Everything. What we truly desire, more than anything else, is the end of desire. This is the Absolute and True happiness which is not relative to anything. It is the presence of Pure Awareness empty of desire, and this can only be found within Oneself, as Oneself.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, you are the very thing you are searching for. When you realise what is false, the Truth will shine. The more One understands the Indwelling Essence, the more it is realised that nothing is needed but the spontaneity of the Ever and Alive Supreme Awareness, for this is the vitality of your Self, from which all the happiness flows."

"It is said that "True Silence is going deep within yourself to that place where nothing is happening, where you transcend time and space and you go into a brand new dimension of nothingness. Only in the stillness of the mind can One see himself as he is ...Unbound."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about a Self Realised Soul who has transcended duality and is free from the bondage of "I am the body" idea. These Awakened Beings do not talk much, for their intuition works through reason. On the other hand One who boasts of spiritual wiseness may hypnotise the odiences temporarily with wordly embellishments but empty words devoid of Knowledge sound hollow.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj has illustrated with beautiful analogy. He says, in making of Clarified Butter (तूप), the crackling sound is indicative of milk solids separating from butter. Here the crackling sound is just like pompous display of a person making a big talk. Just like a Pure Clarified Butter emerges when the crackling sound stops, so is the Self Realised Soul, who on his journey within, is free from any pretentions and doesn't need any boastful display.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the thing always happens that you really believe in, and a belief in a thing makes it happen. One is always naturally inclined to do things which he likes most.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, to be a seeker on a journey of Self Realisation is a boon, for it makes One constantly vigilant of Self which is in a way a constant cleansing of mind from within. He says, "Be Silent, only the Hand of GOD can remove the burdens of your heart."

It is said that "You must learn who is GOLD and who is Gold Plated."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about the paramount importance of understanding the worth, as it is the key for appropriate and thoughtful actions. He says, we all eat but we must be cautious while offering  food to others. More than offering, catering food  to the needy  matters most than catering it to the One who does not care, for GOD comes to the hungry in the form of food.
Illustrating with beautiful analogy Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, there is a thing about snakes that no matter how much you feed them milk, they will bite you in the last. In other words, the unthankful heart discovers no mercies.
He says, the earth is what we all have in common. All life depends upon soil. But every soil does not bear the same fruit.
Just like a tasteless delicacy, which is hardly relished by anyone, One must make a conscious effort of finding out of what he is doing and whether his actions are conducive to his ultimate goal, the Self Realisation.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Mindfulness is not difficult. We just need to remember to do it."

"As the famous saying goes,"Understanding is the reward of faith. Therefore, seek not to understand that you may believe, but believe that you may understand." To believe in GOD is to believe that He is.
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about Faith that GOD is. He says, Faith is Formless. It holds no structure. It is Pure. Faith gives absolute certitude of the Truth believed, because it is a virtue directly infused into the Soul by GOD who is the Truth itself.
Faith in GOD is nothing but a living, Eternally Awake Consciousness of GOD within.
Illustrating with beautiful analogy Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, every seed that One sows, decides into what it will grow, because your relationship with yourself sets the tone for every other relationship you have.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Faith in GOD is to believe what you do not yet see ; the Reward for this Faith is to see what you believe."

"It is said "That nothing is static or fixed, that all is fleeting and impermanent, is the first mark of existence.
The magic fades too fast and scent of summer never lasts, the nights turn hollow and vast, but nothing remains ....Nothing lasts."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about human life which is as evanescent as the morning dew or a flash of lightening. He says, life is unpredictable but death is inevitable. A constant reminder of this inevitability keeps One on toes, to make most of this precious human birth. The mind boggling spell of Maya, the Mistress of Illusion compels One to adhere to "I am the body" idea thereby wasting the precious moments of this fleeting life on frivolous material pursuits. Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory. However to lose precious moments of this rare human life due to mere ignorance is unpardonable, because entering human form of life is to be born to inquire into the Absolute Truth, an Awareness of our True Self.
Animals have four propensities - they eat, sleep, mate and defend. However in human form of life we have an opportunity to do the fifth thing. It is to realise the Absolute Truth, to realise I am part and parcel of the Supreme Soul. This realisation is the beginning of the beautiful journey of Self Realisation which can happen only when One has this rare human birth.
Attachment naturally follows when One holds"I am the body" idea dearly. The sense of Duality is created by  an attached mind. The Self Quest is Transcendence beyond Duality. All worldly relations and possessions make the mind drift away from the Quest of knowing our True Self, for attachments are the root cause of all sufferings.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Attachment is a sense of twoness or duality. It is just like "I am the body" idea where One tends to assume that he is body or a separate entity, different from Self, when he is not. The nectar of Oneness can be tasted only by transcending the ladder of Dualities. "

"गुढी पाडवा", commemorates the coronation of Supreme Lord Shri Ram post His return to Ayodhya after completing 14 years of exile. It symbolizes Divine Lord Shri Ram's victory over Demon King Ravan and happiness and celebrations that followed.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, when Divine Lord Shri Ram returned to Ayodhya, his mother Kausalya who along with others awaited His return with a Reason-less and Intense Longing, remaining absorbed in His name, ultimately to become One with Him
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about the paramount importance of intense yearning for God Reallisation, for longing for Him brings One to perfection through Discrimination and Inward Illumination, raising One's intellect to the heights of contemplation.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the  incessant recital of Holy Ram Nam unfolds the path to Self Realisation, slowly but steadily. Be the natives of Ayodhya or the monkeys who helped Supreme Lord Shri Ram in his search of his beloved wife Seeta, it was their earnest yearning to the Divine Lord with expectations less devotion that made them merge in Him, to become One with Him. The demon king Ravan and his army, though for different reason, were obsessed by Supreme Lord Shri Ram. Despite this they were rewarded with His Blessings and were blessed by Oneness with Him.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, he bows with reverence to those whose mind remains preoccupied by Holy Ram Nam, for it is the blessing that confers the reward, of being in the world but not of the world. "

"It is said that "The trouble is, you think you have time."
In the ephemeral human existence, One must understand his true worth and accordingly value his life. In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, our worldly life is like a marketlplace. If One does not define himrself in it, he will not be able to do the proper valuation correctly and hence will err in his judgement. He says, the quest of our True Self is all about how much importance we give to our worldly life which is full of unending desires and sense gratification. He says, fame is fleeting, popularity is temporary. We must not spoil what we have by desiring what we do not. He says, man considers his body as his greatest asset, ignoring the eternal truth that our bodies are perishable. Wealth is not at all permanent and death is always nearby. Hence we must immediately engage in acts of merit such as absorbing ourselves in Holy Ram Nam instead of chasing frivolous pursuits.
Illustrating with beautiful analogy Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, our mouth is like a wearhouse. A conscious effort to load it with a merchandise of Holy Ram Nam instead of anything else is much needed before the sun of life sets, thereby snatching the only chance we have to transcend the endless sufferings.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, blessed is the One who understands the ephemeral nature of this human birth, and hence he will be cautious not to let go even a moment without reciting the Holy Ram Nam, for Faith is the Eternal Elixir."

As the famous saying goes,"The Real is near, you do not have to seek it. A man who seeks the Truth will never find it. Truth is in what is ..... and that is the beauty of it. But the moment you conceive it, the moment you seek it, you begin to struggle, and a man who struggles cannot understand. That is why we have to be Still, Observant and Passively Aware."
Our True Self is a state of Pure Consciousness, the state of Being which is veiled in us and denied to us by the hypnotic spell of Mistress of Illusion Maya. The True Purpose of our existence is to realise that Consciousness and ultimately to become One with it. In contrast to the Knowledge of our True Self, which is Self Illuminated and exists by itself, the knowledge that arises from Duality is illuminated by mind and intelligence and exists only in relation to things and otherness. In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about the distinction between Wisdom of our True Self and worldly knowledge. He says, One must give a conscious thought to realise who we are, why we are here and where we need to go.
Illustrating with beautiful analogy Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like closing eyes in broad daylight, what One sees is only darkness, so is the One who seeks Wisdom of his True Self outside, when all One needs to do is look within.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, in Oneself lies the whole world. All depends on how to look and learn. The door is there, so is the key. Nobody can give you either key or direct you to the door to be opened, except yourself. "

"It is said that "It was not curiosity that killed the goose who laid the golden egg, but an insatiable greed that devoured common sense."
Avarice is a bottomless pit which exhausts a person in an endless effort to satisfy the need without ever reaching satisfaction. The world has enough for everyone's need, but not enough for everyone's greed. If One is not contented with what he has, then surely he would experience no contentment in what he desires. In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about the insatiable avarice of mankind where man wants more and more without end. He says, restlessness of a man caused by lust of avarice, like a bothersome child, keeps growing and is forever the same. Everything interests him but nothing holds him.
Illustrating with beautiful analogy Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, our worldly mind in the captivity of "I am the body" idea is as fidgety as a Restless Monkey. Jumping here and there senselessly, seeks anything it sets it's eyes on, without bothering of consequences. Just like the monkey, we, in our mundane existence, wander aimlessly all our life, without trying to understand that  tranquility of mind is all about hearing the whispers of our Inner Self.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Mind is a powerful Force to be Reckoned with. It can Enslave us or Empower us. It can Plunge us into the Depths of Misery or take us to the Heights of Ecstasy. One must learn to use the immense power of mind Wisely."
