"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, though GOD Vitthal appears as standing arms akimbo on a brick in His Abode Pandharpur, He is here, and there, and everywhere, in the heights and in depths, in the darkness and the light, filling all star lit places. The different personal manifestations of the Omnipresent GOD are nothimg but the different frame of mind with which One seeks Him.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, His Wisdom cannot be true because GOD is Wisdom. Similarly Perpetual Happiness is synonymous with GOD Realisation."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the Truly Virtuous is the One who follows the foot steps of Saints. And therefore he says, I seek the company of Saints right in earnest, for the sublime aroma of Sandalwood makes even the lowly trees growing near it fragrant.

He says, learn to meditate on the discourses of Saints, for man is product of his thoughts; what he thinks, he becomes.

He says, the whole hearted devotion to the Feet of Saint dispels all troubles born of ignorance."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, let GOD Name Vithoba linger long on your tongue and the incomprehensible will become comprehensible.

He says, let GOD Name Vithoba be in your tongue of thought and the unseen will get revealed.

He says, let the Name Worship of GOD Vithoba go on unceasingly and the very Essence of Vedic Scriptures will get the voice of its own.

He says, meditating GOD Name Vithoba alone brings about  His Realisation, for the Name and Named are no different.

He says, repeat GOD Name Vithoba incessantly and One gets a rare opportunity of getting face to face with hisTrue Self.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, wake up from the slumber of ignorance and do the Name Worship of GOD Vithoba as much as possible, for it is the only way to transcend the Karmic Ocean which makes our  repeated sufferings inevitable."

"This composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj is about the relationship between GOD and His Devotee.

He says, a devotee's love for GOD is like a dog, for there is nothing truer in this world than the love of a dog.

He says, the Unmanifest Truth manifests when the devotee nurtures his devotion through the Name Worship of GOD.

He says, a devotee and GOD are just like soul and body, distinct yet inseparable. 

He says, GOD who brought the devotee in this world is his mother while the devotee who named the Unmaniest giving Him the Form is the father of GOD.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like it is the soul that brings the body to life, GOD manifests in the heart of the devotee."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, have the Name "Ramkrishna" ever on your tongue and in your thoughts, for then the realisation of GOD Narayan no more remains a distant dream.

He says, no matter how One voices "Ram Hari", for it never fails to bring about the wonders.

He says, not the pilgrimages or charity but the practice of GOD Name Vitthal  alone ennobles and purifies and bears fruits in abundance.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, no worldly riches can buy GOD Realisation, for only when the mirror of mind is cleansed with the sweet remembrance of His Name, the glory of GOD shines from within."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about Self Surrender, the quintessence of devotion.

He says, I surrender my all to You, O'GOD Narayan, for You are the Lord of the three worlds and is second to none in wrath and power. 

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, O'GOD Narayan, I searched for You in the Vedic Scriptures but could not and therefore at last Your Feet have now come to abide in my mind and I meditate on them all the time."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, I beseech you O'GOD Vitthal to pay attention to me, for my words may appear as babble, but You will understand because nothing is impossible for You.

O'GOD, he says, save me from getting drowned in the whirlpool of repeated sufferings.

He says, the doings from our past lives haunt our present birth making it miserable, thus becoming a reason for being born again and again. And therefore O'GOD, he says, I have now come to abide in my mind Your Feet, the treasure house of Supreme Bliss."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj comments on the importance of to be surrounded by like minded people, for we are all reflections of people we keep in our lives. 

O'GOD, he says, let me be in the company of those who are absorbed in the Name Worship of GOD day and night, for me to become like them. 

He says, he eagerly awaits the company of devotee of GOD Vishnu, for a feeling of joy, if not shared or tasted, is a waste of chance to be embraced.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, auspicious is the day when we meet those who rejoice unceasingly in the Name Worship of GOD."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj beseeches GOD Narayan to show him the way to His Realisation because the conventional ways like fasting or living a life like a hermit are beyond his capacity, so is the study of Vedic  Scriptures.

He says, the greatest of all the hurdles is that the Life is short and life is uncertain, and therefore whatever is to be done is "Here and Now" in this rare human birth."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about the paramount importance of taming our monkey mind, going in more than one direction at a time, swinging from one branch of thought to the next. He says, the finest way to entice the monkey to come down from the tree and rest, is to tether the mind to the post within by the Name Worship of GOD Vithoba.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the repeated sufferings are inevitable for those who choose not to be Master, but slave of their mind."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, fruitless is the rare human birth if the tongue doesn't delight in "Hari Naam".

He says, he alone suffers from penury and want whose heart is bereft of love for the "Hari Naam."

He says, the True Riches in the world come through "Hari Naam", and without it there is none.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, O'GOD, bless me with Your unhindered Name Worship, no matter what state I may be in."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, a Living Corpse that budens the earth is the most deplorable One, who is a stranger to the Name Worship of GOD Vitthal.

He says, such a man is no less than a beast who sits where the story of GOD is narrated but listens nothing or finds going to the temple unworthwhile.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the devotion less who despite having this rare human birth remains ignorant by choice, may be knowledgable but is far from being Wise."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj elucidates his becoming One with the totality of experience and recognizing the world as the reflection of himself. He says, all duality of good or bad, right or wrong is in the realm of thoughts. Oneness, not much an experience but a state of being, is nothing but slipping into the spaces between the thoughts.

He says, though the reflection in mirror looks back at you, it is your soul that reflects back into itself, reminding of its Oneness.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like a small stream meets the ocean to become One, be the Oneness and everything will be yours."

"Nothing is impossible for GOD, for it is all upon His Will that determines whether or not a single leaf is going to move. What is impossible for man is possible for GOD, for only He can turn a dull mind to an astute or make a legless to cross a mountain or make an unlettered do a profound translation of a not so easily undertood text.
The Miracle of His Grace can turn a sinner into most virtuous or an evil change his heart.
However man relies more on his false ego sense than GOD, thus ensuring his repeated sufferings forever.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the Creation is but the Divine Play where GOD is Himself the play, Himself the player, Himself the playground, yet a Silent Witness to all that unfolds by His Grace. There can be True Liberation only if He Wishes."

He says, the storehouse of Karmic Debt from the past births has already emptied, what remains is that which with I am born in this birth.

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, fickle is human mind, torn between choices, constantly searching the path for True Happiness, but in vain. And therefore he says, tether the mind to the Name Worship of GOD Panduranga and leave everything to His Wish, for that is the only way not to get trapped in the vicious cycle of temptations and their gratification.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the Subtle "Hari Naam" to seek GOD, the Subtler of the Subtlest, is the only way to attain the enduring natural poise free from worldly distractions, our true mooring which we have lost and gone astray."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj describes his experience of becoming One with GOD Vitthal, his Most Beloved.
He says, GOD Vitthal dwells in my heart and having enveloped my whole being with His Grace, even my shadow now appears to me as Him.
He says, mind, the greatest of all senses is engrossed in His contemplation and therefore my tongue knows nothing but the Name Worship of GOD Vitthal.
Summing up Sant tukaram Maharaj says, for the journey to become One with Him, knowing "GOD is Love" is not enough, we must practice this Love."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, I will become your slave forever if you show me anything other than GOD which gives True Happiness.
He says, don't say that happiness is congruent with youth, for disease spares none.
He says, don't get carried away by glory and fame, for seeking happiness from the ephemeral is nothing but inviting the repeated sufferings forever.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, I beg of you to wake up from the slumber of ignorance before it is too late and do the needful, for nothing but absorbing in the "Ram Naam" is the crowning fruition of all endeavors and a gateway to True Happiness."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, naked a man comes into this world and naked he leaves it, for death makes equal the rich and poor.
The abundant riches the man strives for whole of his life give him immense sorrow in the end because he knows he can carry none with him after death. Though the worldly riches cannot, he can certainly carry with him GOD Name Panduranga recited when the death will be round the corner. And therefore he says, practice the Name Worship of GOD as much as possible so that GOD Name Pandurang becomes the last word uttered with the departing soul.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, man becomes who he surrounds himself with, and therefore rather than those who chase the frivolous material pursuit which mean nothing after death, One must seek the company of the exponent of the Name Worship of GOD, for even the lowly trees in the vicinity of Sandalwood become fragrant."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, man has through ages endeavored to call GOD by myriad of names such as Hari, Govinda, Ramkrishna and clothed Him with epithets just for the sake of expression. He says, going to pilgrimages, acts of charity, fasts, penances do not come up to the merit of Hari Naam, for the One who bathes in the ocean of Hari Naam longingly gets it on his journey within without going anywhere.
Illustrating with beautiful analogy he says, performances of rites and rituals is like tending the ordinary cattle. However Hari Naam is like the Sacred Wish Fulfilling Cow Kamdhenu, which transcends all acts of piety and charity.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, there is no other means of GOD Realisation except the practice of Hari Naam, the noblest of all virtues."

He says, the journey of GOD Realisation will not begin unless One makes a genuine, firm and steady effort to become free from "I am this body" idea.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, if we deploy our mind in GOD, our mind will become of GOD."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the forgetfulness of the bodily desires of thirst and hunger by the One absorbed in the Name Worship of GOD Vithoba can be described as "the thirst has drunk the thirst and the hunger has swallowed itself."
He says, all passions and all delights take to their heels when One meditates day and night GOD Name Vitthal and drinks it's ambrosia.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, pleasures do not delight and the pains do not distress the Living Liberated who remains intuitively absorbed in the Name Worship of GOD,"

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about the importance of adopting the teachings of only One Spiritual Master, rather than wandering from one man to another, out of curiosity and losing faith in the end. He says, in devotion One must listen to all, but follow one and respect all, but adore one.
Illustrating with beautiful analogy he says, a young plant recently sprouted will flourish only when it is watered again and again.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the sculptor wields the chisel to make the stricken stone emanate the divinity. However if he fails to pursue it to completion, the same stone becomes a means of defecation."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj cautions us from the willful blindness towards the preciousness of this rare human birth where "what we could know, and should know, we don't".
He says, what raises man above the animal propensities of eating, sleeping and procreating is his sense of discrimination that makes him see the difference between Truth and Falsehood, right and wrong, Eternal  and Ephemeral or between merely following animal instinct and seeking GOD Realisation. And therefore he says, do the needful at the earliest, for the next birth could be of a dog or of a donkey.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like a  land can turn from Barren to Bountiful by sheer hard work, sow the seed of "Hari Naam" incessantly to reap the rich harvest of GOD Realisation."

"Destiny may provide a meal, yet without the movement of hands, the food will not enter the mouth."
Elucidating this thought in this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, fate cannot succeed without efforts. Just like putting in efforts is in our hands, the end result not, it will be unjust to say that worship of GOD will happen if "I am destined to", or "I will do it when I will become old". Our inclination to follow the path of worship may be destined, but to walk on it or not is entirely in our hands, for all depends on how we regard this rare human birth as, a doorway to GOD Realisation or merely a mundane existence.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, One must consciously refrain from using "GOD's Wish", as an excuse for not doing the self effort, for GOD helps those who help themselves."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, love dwells in the heart of those who remain absorbed in "Hari Naam."
He says, Love comes searching for the naive who are willing to humble themselves before GOD Vishnu and lose Self in His adoration
He says, love refuses to leave the place where the story of GOD is narrated.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Love needs no invitation to visit the worshippers of GOD Vishnu, for the Worship flourishes only where the Love Abounds."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, "Bhava" or the Spiritual Emotion in  devotion is how we look at GOD, merely an idol of worship or the liveliness that envelopes our world entire.
He says, we do everything diligently in this rare human birth except the persistent effort to seek GOD Realisation. And therefore he says, waste not a moment without repeating the "Vitthal Naam", to make this precious Hunan birth the crowning fruition of all endeavors.
Affirming solemnly Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, One should hold dearly the feeling that "Yes, He is", for only then the metal will be ready for the Maker's Hands."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, O'GOD, annihilate my desires and make me Pure Stainless and Boundless like You, Who is beyond the realm of repeated sufferings.
He says, remaining in the world but not of the world is just like a quartz crystal which naturally flashes the colours of rainbow, yet remains colouless and transparent."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, wake up "now" from the deep slumber of ignorance and be diligent, for life is uncertain and the causes for death are innumerable.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, no moment what we call "Today" is permanent, and therefore instead of letting it fritter away in laziness, be on your toes in the quest of everlasting happiness, for whatever is to be done must be done "Here and Now", in the precious moments of this rare human birth."
