In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like a teacher himself writes on the board while teaching a lesson, the Spiritually Wise guide the seeker of Self Quest by walking his talk. He says, the perseverance of the Wise is just like a mother who takes small steps while walking along the child.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like a mother or a Spiritually Wise, a boat of the Name Worship of GOD transcends One beyond the ocean of sufferings slowly but steadily. "

"Everyone is endowed with the gift of the Holy Ram Nam, the nectar of immortality, for the rare soul who partakes it lives forever."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about the glory of Holy Ram Nam, for underneath the three letters lies hidden the whole cosmos. He says, when in contemplation One surrenders to the Supreme Lord SHRIRAM all that he possesses, the Supreme Divine reciprocates solemnly with the same fervour.
The Holy Ram Nam works it's miracle regardless of whether it is recited knowingly or unknowingly. Being beyond the realm of religious ritualism it is not confined within the boundaries of social discrimination.
He says, the wrongdoings done even in One's  past get incinerated when he remains absorbed in the Holy Ram Nam.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, ghosts or evil spells cannot harm the One who wears a protective shield of incessant recital of the Holy Ram Nam.
He says, remaining absorbed in the Holy Ram Nam is but another way of doing everything assuming GOD as the Doer, for only then a conscious effort of getting out of the otherwise unending Karmic Cycle begins, thereby unlocking the door to Liberation.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, contemplating the Holy Ram Nam with absolute faith that "Yes, He Exits" unfolds the path towards perennial joy forever."

In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj implores all to make a conscious effort of practicing the Holy Ram Nam here and now, for death has a habit of catching One unawares. And when it strikes, the affections and bonds betray the most and One feels utterly vulnerable. The grieving of loved ones is but momentary as life must go on. He says, in the end when life betrays, One is all alone in his rendezvous with death, the certainty in the most uncertain world.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, more than mere survival, this rare human birth should be used as a coduit to attain Self Realisation, for it is the only way to seek Liberation from the otherwise endless cycle of deaths and rebirths.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Blessed are those who live life remaining absorbed in the Name Worship of GOD Vithoba, for He is a subtle friend who comes into play by contemplation."

In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj  describes the futility of Self Quest without allowing it to sink in.
Illustrating with beautiful analogies he says, parrot talks what it is been taught but that doesn't mean it understands what. It is talking about. Similarly One may recite aloud the Spiritual Texts but unless he understands their significance it remains mere parroting.
He says, just like grandeur of royalty experienced in dream doesn't make One a King, the purity from within cannot be pretended.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, no poetic sense or songs of GOD's glory are worth if One doesn't believe from within that "Yes, GOD Exists."
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, seeking Self Realisation in the world of duality is as fictitious as the riches reflected in the mirror, which appear to be so true but One cannot get hold of them.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the seeker of Self Quest must consciously avoid being like a cowherd who tends grazing cattle, calls them as his own but gains nothing from them in return, for GOD realisation is not possible until One transcends the duality of "this is mine."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like to be born is one thing, but to be Truly Alive quite another, One must constantly look within to find out whether he is living or merely existing. He says, the True Living is making a conscious effort to make this rare human birth worthwhile, for only here One can strive to attain Self Realisation, an opportunity to seek Liberation from the unending cycle of deaths and rebirths.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj rebukes the seeker of Self Quest of his ignorance which has taken its toll in mere countless births without any spiritual growth. He says, an otherwise impossible Self Realisation is also possible in the precious human birth which even Gods envy.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, only the Blessed who remains absorbed in the Holy Ram Nam transcends the ocean of sufferings and enjoy the Divine Ecstasy of Supreme Abode Vaikuntha.
He says, the Holy Ram Nam is a freebie available to all without discrimination, for it makes the One who practices it with true devotion, free from the the bondage of worldliness.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj implores the seeker of Self Quest to taste the sweet elixir of the Holy Ram Nam incessantly, for once a soul tastes of this sweet elixir, it cannot possibly leave it off. He says, the pool of nectar lies in the folds of the mind, it is only when the mind grows still that it becomes manifest."

"But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who seeks GOD must strongly believe that He is, and that He rewards all who diligently seek Him."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about how focused and diligent One should be in practicing the Name Worship of GOD, for Name and Named are no different. He says, seeking GOD should become the way of life to make this rare human birth worthwhile, but not something to be done in times of desperate need or a matter of convenience.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, One must pursue the Name Worship of GOD zealously regardless of being without food for even a week.
Emphasizing the intensity with which One must pursue the Name Worship of GOD, Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the seeker must not let even a moment pass without reciting Ram Nam regardless of whether his head bursts or his body is cut into pieces.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, GOD rewards all those who put all their heart and strength into seeking Him. He says, those who are so committed and willing to exhaust all their natural powers in seeking GOD are the Blessed Ones who find in the end what they are seeking."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the world we see is Bhavasagar, an ocean of Maya, the Cosmic Illusion which seems to be very real when it is not. Nevertheless we must cross it in this very rare human birth with our body as the boat, though with thousand holes.
Describing this difficult task he says, the weaknesses of human personality such as lust and anger lurk like wild beasts, always ready to pounce. Similarly caught in the whirlpool of attachment there is all possibility of One getting drowned in it, for attachment itself is a great fabricator of illusions.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the big waves of Vasana or longings incessantly overwhelm and hence compel One to act in certain manner, for fruit of desire is Karma which may be pain or pleasure.
He implores all to ride with him in a boat of Ram nam, for it is a sure way to cross the ocean of sufferings forever.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, remaining absorbed in the constant recital of Ram Nam is a beautiful way to become Unattached Observers of the events happening all around us and understanding that we are " in this world, but not of it."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, as long as One fails to recognize the true value of being born as a human, he will just fritter his life away chasing frivolous material pursuits, and when life comes all too soon to its inevitable end, there is only a bitter realisation that he has not achieved anything worthwhile at all.
He says, with the sense of discrimination the humans have an edge over other species, to strive for Self Realisation, the only way to put a stop to otherwise endless cycle of deaths and rebirths. And hence One must make most of his rare human birth here and now, for no one knows what he will be born as in his next birth.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, till the notion "I am the Doer" holds, there is no escape from the effects of One's actions, for they are accumulated incessantly in the basket of Sanchit Karma, thereby trapping him in the endless Karmic cycle. However if One does everything assuming GOD as the Doer, then the refilling of Sanchiti Karma basket will halt,  for Liberation from endless cycle of deaths and rebirths happens only when the basket of Sanchit Karma will become empty. In other words, doing everything by remaining absorbed in the Name Worship of GOD Panduranga, GOD becomes a boat to transcend One across the Ocean of Karma.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, merging individual Self with the Supreme Self or becoming One with GOD Panduranga is the only way to transcend the ocean of repeated sufferings forever."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, it is through the Spiritually Wise that we come to know that our life which we call as reality is just something conjured up by the mind, a mistake of the intellect, for the day is not much far when in our Self Quest, we will awaken from this dream to the reality of our True Self.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, One on his Self Quest may renounce his family ties, but the True Renunciation will not be complete unless he restrains his sense of taste and detaches his mind from the sense gratification. He says, True Detachment happens when neither happiness nor hatred owns you. Often the One who professes detachment reels under the burden of sorrows.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the True Detachment isn't a separation from life but the absolute freedom within the mind to explore living. "

In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj has propounded the paramount importance of Name Worship of GOD, for it chaperones and steers the seeker of Self Quest on the path of wisdom. He says, reciting Ram Nam is like an involuntary watch on One's actions, for bad deeds and Ram Nam cannot coexist.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the inevitability of the effects of all our actions ceases as soon as we do the actions being absorbed in the Name Worship of GOD, for it makes GOD the Doer instead of us. He says, Liberation from the otherwise endless cycle of deaths and rebirths is possible only when One remains absorbed in the Name Worship of GOD which inculcates detachment from within.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, there is no need to adhere to religious paraphernalia or visiting pilgrimages, for the Name Worship of GOD alone is enough to detach One from the greatest of all ills, the " I am the body" idea.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the endless cycle of repeated sufferings is due to the constant refilling of Sanchit Karma, for the only way to stop it is giving the Doership of our actions to GOD through the Name Worship of GOD, the panacea of all ills. "

It is said that
" Be not afraid of going slowly, be afraid only of standing still."
The Self Realisation is a slow but steady process of maturing of the personality to accept it's own evanescence and hence to allow space for the True Self to reveal itself. It is the process of evaluating and analysing Oneself on the touchstone of Name Worship of Supreme Lord Shri Ram which if practiced pierces into Self and cleanses it from within. Once purified, the mind helps in ushering in Eternal Oneness of Supreme Consciousness. Thus One gets attuned to the Formless Supreme Essence through Self Realisation. It is the process of Becoming One with Supreme Consciousness. In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says that seeking Supreme Self is process of unlearning of fear and the acceptance of love back into our hearts by practicing recital of Holy Ram Nam incessantly and patiently, as Patience is always a companion of Wisdom.
Illustrating with beautiful analogies he says,
What goes inside of us is like the roots of a tree. The roots run deep, sometimes break the rocks, to give strength and beauty to the tree. Similarly as the journey of Self Realisation unfolds, the seeker feels the Divine virtues springing in him from within, as the true beauty lies in the purity of heart.
Nothing is impossible for a firm resolve of a determined Soul if One believes in it.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says that this is just like a rope can cut a big rock by mere friction or One can even digest a poison by becoming habitual to it. He says everything depends upon conditioning of our mind. And hence the process of Self Realisation is nothing but conditioning of our Consciousness to seek the Supreme Consciousness.
In another beautiful analogy Sant Tukaram Maharaj says initially there is not enough space in the womb of mother to accommodate a nine month old baby. But as the time goes by, things get conditioned and the baby fills a place in the mother's heart as if she never knew it was empty. "

In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj   talks about what One, who is in the firm grip of "I am the body" idea, must do to seek Self Realisation. He says, in the unending cycle of deaths and rebirths, One must accumulate as much virtue as possible by doing pious deeds, for it is the seed of all that unfolds in his future births.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, man is the architect of his own destiny, for every thought and action of him culminates in his future experience. He says, everyone in this rare human birth has an opportunity to attain Self Realisation provided One consciously does Self Effort just like a man seeks shade of a tree to save him from the hot sun.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, what happens in our present birth is due to what we did in our past lives over which we have no control. But what we do in our present birth is in our hands and a conscious self effort of doing good deeds will not gp in vain."

He says, just like bad odour from the mouth of onion eater is more disturbing than the onion itself, the company of the ignorant does more damage than the ignorant himself.

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Prarabdha or what One experiences in his present birth is due to the effects of his deeds in his past lives. Similarly the effects of what he will do in his present birth will decide his Prarabdha in his future lives. Thus trapped is the man in the web of Prarabdha Karma. For the only way to break out of this vicious circle is doing something by which the effects of his actions will not trouble him. He says, it  is the "I am the doer" idea, which makes the effects of all our deeds obligatory to us thus making us suffer.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, doing all actions simultaneously with the Name Worship of GOD is making GOD the Doer, for it relieves us from the obligation of their effects thereby stopping the otherwise unstoppable Karmic Cycle. He says, doing everything while reciting GOD Name is but roasting the seeds of ignorance of "I am the doer" idea in the fire of the Divine Name, for once the seed becomes not worth sowing, One is transcended beyond the ocean of repeated sufferings.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, getting this rare human birth is a great privilege, a unique opportunity to seek Liberation, for the only way One can display his gratitude to GOD for giving him this opportunity is to make his human body a conduit for his true purpose, the Self Realisation.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Self Realisation or the journey of  becoming One with the Supreme Reality is the only way to get rid of  "I am the body" idea, the root cause of all our sufferings."

He says, renunciation from the worldly life and pursuit of spirituality often involve harsher austerities that make the body suffer thus diverting the attention of mind away from meditation, the true purpose.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, delving deep in the study of Vedic Scriptures yields neither their true meaning nor One pointed devotion to GOD which is paramount in One's journey of Self Realisation.
And hence he says, he prefers Name Worship of GOD Vithoba over everything else, for the very essence of this rare human birth is remembering GOD in every moment we live."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Blessed is the One on whom GOD bestows love that loosens the grip of "I am the body" idea, for he forever remains absorbed in the Name Worship of GOD without bothering of time and place. Being free of the false ego sense he bothers least about what people will say about him.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Living Liberated is the One for whom reciting GOD Name is the only thing in life that is worth doing, for having transcended the endless cycle of deaths and rebirths, he enjoys the ecstasy of Supreme Bliss forever.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Blessed is the One who constantly thinks about doing the Name Worship of GOD as much as possible in his very rare and fleeting human birth, for it is the best way to accumulate ocean of virtues which is so needed on the journey of Self Realisation. "

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about Harikatha, an exposition of GODLINESS through storytelling which comforts the mind and elevates the soul of the listener to Divinity. He says, beyond the realm of death is the place where Harikatha is expounded, for it vibrates with incessant Name Worship of GOD. So says Yama, the GOD of Death to the messengers of death, not to visit the village and even its border, where live those who are absorbed in the Name Worship of GOD, for they are protected by GOD Vishnu holding his invincible weapon Sudarshan, which revolves round not only his devotee but also the houses in that village. GOD Vishnu armed with Sudarshan Chakra, a spinning disc like weapon and Kaumodaki Gada, a mace and flanked by Goddess Laxmi, stands guard at the doorstep of his devotee who is immersed in His Name Worship with the unshakable faith that "Yes, He Exists."
Says Yama, the GOD of Death to his messengers, the strength of a True Devotee of GOD Vishnu is unparalleled among all creatures of earth, for his true strength is equanimity which springs from his Name worship of GOD, makes him invincible."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, he intends to advice the seeker on his Self Quest according to his individual capacity, for nothing fruitful can be accomplished if One burdens himself beyond that it can bear.
Illustrating this with a beautiful analogy Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, it will be as improper as draping an ant with the saddle cloth or jhool which is used to embellish an elephant.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like a hunter who uses a spear, a noose and a net to set the trap, makes their choice according to the their need in different circumstances, so are the Teachings of the Saints which help One to adopt the means conducive to his Self Quest which can help him on his journey of Self Realisation."

In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, he waits for GOD just like a newly sprouted shoot awaits rainshowers. He implores GOD to become mind of his mind so that GOD can reach him quicker than He walking to him or riding to him on eagle.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj describes his longing for GOD to be like soul sinking of a child bereft of food when he is most hungry.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the soul must long for GOD in order to be set aflame by GOD's love. But if the soul cannot yet feel the longing, then it must long for the longing, for it is the greatest gif One can have from GOD."

"A lie will always be a lie."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the Self Quest is impossible unless we consciously remove the veil of lies of "I", "Me", " Mine", the root cause of all our sufferings.
He says, stuffing the skin of a dead tiger with a straw creates an impression as if he is alive. But the pretension is nowhere near the otherwise magnificent beast.
In another analogy he says, just like a coated coin fails when subjected to a test, the Untruth gets exposed as soon as it comes in contact with the Truth.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says,  just like the monkey dances to the tune of his master, the mask of falsehood lasts only until the Truth is revealed.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, all falsehood is a mask and however well made the mask may be, with a little attention One can always distinguish it from the True Face."

In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, his nearness to GOD is like a dog which lays at his master's feet who pets him with kindness.
He says, his state of mind has become like a dog, who wagging his tail seeks vicinity of master while the master is eating food, but whose mind remains untouched by the thought that his this behaviour will annoy the master in any way."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, even though worldly life revolves around sense gratification, One should not rely much on senses as they are bound to wither as the body ages.
Illustrating with beautiful analogies Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, seeing through mind's eye is better than seeing through eyes which get worn out as time goes by.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, no matter what One does to maintain the lustre of hair, the graying of hair is inevitable part of aging.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, man doesn't realise until it's very late that all his effort of nurturing his body was just a passing phase, for its waning was inevitable with the passage of time. As man ages, his body loses its sheen and the senses follow the suit, for the most debilitating is the ruthless betrayal of the body and senses, his most trusted and what man calls as "his".
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the human body is a great privilege and One must use it as a vehicle to attain Self Realisation which is attainable only in this rare human birth. He says, the emphasis on the nurturing of body should be only to keep the body healthy so that One can practice the Name Worship of GOD as much longer as possible in his precious human birth, his road to Liberation."

"Sant Tukaram Maharaj feels elated when he discovered the GOD Name Vitthal inherent in him. Knowing it as a true capital to attain Self Realisation he stored it in the form of Vaikhari Vani or the articulated manifestation of the Unmanifest.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, GOD Name Vitthal is available to all and anyone who recites it with the unshakable faith that "Yes, GOD Exists", is benefitted by it regardless of whether he is a King or a Pauper.
He says, no matter whether the seeker is a lay man or a wise, he will not regret by participating the congregation of devotees of GOD Vishnu.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, unlike worldly material capital which ceases as it is utilized, the capital of Divine Name Vitthal remains ceaseless, no matter how much One practices the Name Worship of GOD. He vows to empty his mind of everything except GOD Name Vitthal, for listening, singing and practicing it is the only way to experience the Supreme Bliss."

In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj  considers the  fondness with which he remains absorbed in the Name Worship of GOD as a True Blessing.
Since Prarabdha, or what happens in One's present birth is the effect of his deeds in past lives, Sant Tukaram Maharaj feels contentment from within when he sees his Prarabdha unfolding in the Name Worship of GOD, for this great fortune must be the culmination of accumulation of virtues in his past lives. He says, the greatest of ills is the endless sufferings of deaths and rebirths, for he who holds the Name of GOD dearly wields the panacea of all ills.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Blessed is the One who devours the heavenly food of GOD Name in the company of a Spiritually Wise and thus lives in perpetual peace and ecstasy.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, despite having practiced the Name Worship of GOD ceaselessly, he feels no  fulfilment from within. It is just like feeling of empty stomach despite having eaten to the full capacity.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, he remains immersed in the Name Worship of GOD, for it bathes him in the ocean of Divine Bliss."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about the SAHAJ State, the Natural State of Being of a Self Realised Soul. He says, becoming detached from the worldly material attachments he falls prostrate at the feet of GOD in a total surrender, thus offering his false ego sense, a child of "I am the body" idea.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, in the SAHAJ State, One doesn't need to go anywhere to seek GOD, for GOD manifests within him. He says, seeking a particular place of worship indicates a sense of duality, but the One in his SAHAJ State, having transcended duality, remains absorbed in the constant worship of GOD wherever he is. In other words, for the One in SAHAJ State, doing nothing distinctly itself is the True Worship of GOD.
Summing up, just like dust accompanies man wherever he goes, Sant Tukaram Maharaj wishes to be the dust at the feet of GOD in his SAHAJ State, thus experiencing the ecstasy unparalleled."
