"The world of plurality is ephemeral in nature. All physical possessions are like a show of magician that lasts for few days. In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Desire is the supreme source of sorrow, as it is never satiated. He says, bondage consists only in desire, the destruction of desire is Liberation.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the worldly wealth is ever transitory. Even when we love it dearly, we cannot retain it for long, for attachment to objects of world is but hallucinations. He says, enough of wealth and enjoyment in the wilderness of mind, for the mind does not find repose in them.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, everyone sees misery, disease, decay and death all around. It is a wonder that the One seeing it happening does not contemplate its arising for him any moment. He says, GOD alone is Eternal. Man is momentary flash, a tiny wavelet, that rises and falls. Only the Name of GOD, with all its halo of glory and majesty can cleanse the mind of its endless desires to make it placid and pure."

"Divinity is unmanifest, but man has an innate desire to comprehend the Divine in the manifest creation around him. It is very difficult or almost impossible to grasp and understand the Eternal and All Conscious Divine Energy because our mind by its very nature is in Duality and hence works with Form. In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about seeking Formless GOD by worshipping Him in Form so that we can direct our feelings to Him.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj has illustrated this with an analogy of curd making. He says, when One tries to envisage GOD through his worldly vision, it is like milk  is being left to sour to form a curd. When One worships GOD with True Devotion assuming Him in Form, he attains Self Realisation or in other words, he is enriched by the Wisdom of his True Self, the all pervading Formless Divine. It is similar to butter being churned out from curd.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, blessed is the One who sways in the ecstasy of Supreme Bliss while being enthralled by the beauty of GOD assumed in Form.
He says, Shesh, a King of Snakes symbolizes eternity and holds the entire earth on its head. Just like Shesh, the Self Realised Soul has a perfect confluence of living in the world but not of the world.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the resplendence of Supreme Consciousness illuminates our whole inner being. It is there like a butter in a curd. If One churns his mind by devotion, GOD appears like butter from Curd."

"A good word is an easy obligation, but not to speak ill requires only our silence which costs us nothing."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, playing favorites is always a bad thing, for you can do a great harm in seemingly harmless ways. He says, when among many One is praised, it makes others looked down upon as if they are lesser to him. It may be done unknowingly but the damage is irreparable. It is as if by doing so we invite the evil thoughts to make their home within us.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, for a Self Realised Soul who sees One Supreme Reality all around, he is beyond the realm of "this is good" and "that is bad."
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, One needs to go deeply into the urge to be silent  not allowing the mental interference of how, where and when, for in the silence of heart GOD speaks.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Name Worship of GOD are the only words that annoy no one and hence he says, let the only words One speaks be the Holy Ram Nam."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about how rare it is to know a Spiritually Wise who is a living embodiment of Godliness, for he is the beacon of light to all who tread to walk the Spiritual Path. He says, just as everything has beauty, not everyone sees it, the Spiritually Wise sees GOD while majority remain engrossed in worshipping "I-ness" than GOD.
Illustrating this rarity he says, just like Kalpataru, a Wish Fulfilling Divine tree or Kamdhenu, the Divine Cow which bestows all needs are unique, it is a thing of  rarity to know of a Truly Spiritually Wise who initiates masses on their journey of Self Realisation without expecting anything in return.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, he who sees infinite in all things sees GOD and blessed are those who see this glory unfolding through his eyes."

"It is said that "The art of being Wise is the art of knowing what to overlook."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about outlook of Wise to value content, for content precedes design. The design in the absence of content is not design, it is mere decoration.
Illustrating with beautiful analogy Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, for a Wise, a coconut is meant for its sweet coconut meat while for monkey it is merely a fruit having hard shell. In other words, the eyes are useless when mind is blind. He says, the worst thing is to be born sighted but to lack vision.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, One gets what he deserves. Illustrating with meaningful analogy he says, a delicacy relished by a connoisseur may be a nightmare for a dog who spews it out in a gush.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, mere recitation of verses of Scriptures aloud serves no purpose, for what One understands and implements accordingly matters most. He says, it is possible only when One knows what he is looking for, information or Wisdom."

"It is said that when some Sages went to Maharshi Vyas to ask about which Yoga is most conducive to be fruitful in man's effort for Liberation, Maharshi Vyas anticipated their question and repeated to himself aloud " How fortunate are those destined to be born in KaliYug, for it is easy to win the Grace of GOD by His Name Worship in Kali Age."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about efficacy of Name Worship of GOD over all the other means to attain Self Realisation. He says, body postures are of paramount importance in meditation through Yoga Practice. One needs years of practice to master one pointed concentration. Despite this not everyone pursuing it is successful in attaining it. He says, instead it is much easier to absorb Oneself in the Name Worship of GOD which needs nothing else but One's will to do it.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, True Renunciation is not dropping the possessions but possessiveness. If One renounces the world through failure, it is not renunciation, but renouncing the world through understanding is totally different. He says, renounce and still be here, be in the world but not of the world. It is like remaining in crowd and remaining alone. It's doing things but never be the doer.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, to walk on Karma Marga or Path of Action without selfish motives, One needs to be free from body consciousness which envelopes him as soon as he is born. He says, as a lotus flower is born in water, grows in water and rises out of water to stand above it unsoiled, so the seeker on his journey of Self Realisation needs to be born in the world, raised in the world, having overcome the world, living unsoiled by the world.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, within the body dwell the five thieves Lust, Anger, Greed, Attachment and Egotism. In order to subdue them, we must be able to recognize them. These are the great enemies and cause much suffering. Unless these dwellers are pushed out there will be no place for GOD to reside within. Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, GOD is everywhere in the world, but everyone cannot see Him. He says, True Devotion is seeing GOD in all beings, for closer we get to the Truth, the more we find worship welling up within us.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, except the Name Worship of GOD, on all the other paths to seek GOD, One's body needs to be subjected to hardships in some way or other which not everybody can withstand. He says, the Holy Ram Nam may appear but a monosyllable compared to the countless sins abound, but only it assures salvation to all, whether good or bad, learned or unlettered."

"It is said that "Nothing lasts forever. Forever is a lie. All we have is what's between Hello and Goodbye."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, though it is the Eternal Truth that all matter is bound to degenerate and perish in the end, we blinded by veil of ignorance of "I am the body" idea do not feel it relevant to us. He says, it's not that we are unaware of the fact that the body to which we identify as ourselves will drop down dead one day. We know it but we ignore it assuming that it is all for someone else not us.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj has exemplified it through a fable, narrating a dialogue between Tiger and Fox. Conversing with Fox, the hungry Tiger asks him to become his prey as there is no escape from the inevitable death. Tiger says, if you allow me to eat you then it will be a great benevolence on your part to feed the hungry soul like me and your kindness will surely not go unnoticed by GOD. The Cunning Fox feeling elated by what Tiger says, replies that what's true for me is Eternal Truth for you as well.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, we are all in the same boat in the stormy sea of life. He says, this rare human birth is one of the precious fleeting gifts where everything can change in a heartbeat. The body to which we call as "I" dwindles fast with every passing moment. Realising this wholeheartedly is nothing but to dare to dream, for courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality, the Self Realisation."

"It is said that "The simplest acts of kindness are by far more powerful than thousand heads bowing in prayer."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about Kindness, a bliss of GOD. He says, not all of us can do great things, but we can definitely do small things with great love.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, GOD surrounds and enfolds One who spares nothing to do good to others, for he is the true worshipper of GOD.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, a spinning disc like weapon Sudarshan which belongs to Supreme Lord Vishnu has a power to destroy all the unjust things in its path. He says, GOD removes all the hurdles in the path of One who showers selfless kindness to others wholeheartedly.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, One who harms others by his deeds harms himself by his thoughts. Nothing can save One from being roasted in fires of hell whose mind dwells constantly on doing harm to others.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Great Sage Durwasa is known for his explosive anger and curses. But there were times when even he was helpless before the power of humble follower of Supreme Lord Vishnu, King Ambarish. In order to save his devotee King Ambarish from the demon sent by Sage Durvasa to kill him, Lord Vishnu unleashed His Sudarshan to safeguard King Ambarish. After killing the demon, the Sudarshan started pursuing Sage Durvasa who ran for his life. The hunter thus became the hunted. Ultimately the Sage was saved by kindness of King Ambarish who pardoned him and saved him from being annihilated.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, in Great Epic Mahabharat, Duryodhan with his evil doings harvested the inevitable destruction, for doing nothing for others is undoing for ourselves.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like a tree is known by its fruit, a man by his deeds, a good deed is never lost. He says, no one is useless in this world who lightens the burden of another."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about a paradox pertaining to our body. He says, though holding dearly "I am the body" idea is the root cause of all our sufferings, we can seek Liberation only if we use this bodily vehicle effectively. He says, only in human birth One has a privilege to transcend the ocean of duality and to become One with Supreme Self.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, mere human birth does not serve any purpose, for One must be conscious of his goal, the Self Realisation. Otherwise this rare opportunity will be wasted in mere sense gratification and in the end he is left with nothing, not even the body to whom he identified himself with.
He says, the seed of Self Realisation needs to be dropped in dirt, our worldly life, covered in darkness, our ignorance so that it will struggle to reach the light or Self Realisation through our conscious effort. He says, it must be remembered that the day we plant the seed is not the day we eat the fruit.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, we become what we think about. When on one side with conscious effort One can move on his Self Quest, someone else for whom his body is he, will get stuck up in the unending cycle of deaths and rebirths forever.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the veil of ignorance cast by Maya, the Cosmic Illusion makes One seek happiness outside, when in reality it indwells him forever and he needs to go nowhere but within him to seek it.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, wasting this rare human birth for chasing frivolous material pursuits is like losing the sense of right path and hence wandering aimlessly.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, if we wish to find ourselves, we must first admit that we are lost, for to do so One needs courage of conviction which takes him a step ahead on his Self Quest slowly but steadily."

"Nothing happens to a person that he does not for some reason or other deserve. Usually One cannot comprehend the reasons behind happenings. The definite invisible cause of the visible effect cannot be necessarily confined to our present life. It may be traced to some remote past birth.
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about shadow of Karma in our past lives which influences our present life and challenge us in so many ways. He says, to the mean eye all things are trivial, as certainly as to the jaundiced they are yellow.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, One who spins about himself finds his surrounding whirling about him. Similarly nasty things done by One in his past lives compel him to follow suit in his present life thus becoming the root cause of his sufferings. He says, what we do in our present life is due to what we did in our past lives and over which we have no control. However if we make a conscious effort in our present life to think good and to do good then One can surely break out of an otherwise vicious cycle.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, we are what we made ourselves through our actions in our past lives. We ourselves are responsible for our own happiness and misery. We create our own heaven and we create our own hell. He says, only we are the architects of our fate."

"It is said that "As cloth is nothing but thread, so this universe is certainly nothing but the Self. We are One with GOD in our Subconscious and our Subconscious controls our destiny."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about our Subconscious Mind weaved with GOD by a common thread. He says, the universe appears as a result of ignorance of Self and disappears with the knowledge of the Self.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the Self is a limitless ocean. The relative worlds rise, are active according to their nature and dissolve into the Self like bubbles on water, in an endless cycle. For the Witness Consciousness in the seeker, the Self is a sport or a "Lila", causing amazement and wonder.
Illustrating with beautiful analogies Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like blooming of Lotus Flower in moonlight has a touch of spontaneity, GOD has a reason for allowing things to happen. We may never understand His Wisdom, but we simply have to trust His Will.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, nothing else but only magnet melts the heart of a piece of iron. Similarly GOD pulls a string and we, the puppets move. Nothing happens by our will. GOD is behind the scene pulling the strings, in other words orchestrating our life.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, we may not see how things unfold but GOD always maneuvers things in our favour. We must believe that nothing happens randomly and all our steps are Divinely orchestrated."

In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about the contemplative absorption, a state of becoming One with Supreme Consciousness. He says, just like salt when mixed with water becomes One with it, it is our Awareness becoming Aware of itself.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, burning of camphor symbolises union with GOD. Just as the camphor burns itself without leaving any residue, so does burning One's ego in the fire of knowledge of our True Self leads to becoming One with GOD. He says, just like two wicks close to each other become One, the spiritual journey is becoming what One has always meant to become and always was.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Awraeness itself is not Awareness of any thing or any condition or any situation, it is the one infinite and omnipresent light we are, we see things with and the things themselves."

"In the same way as the drops of water reunite with their source, the ocean, our limited, individual existence and consciousness will one day reunite with its source, the unlimited, Divine Essence. In other words Self Realisation is a journey from Duality to the Supreme Oneness which is Eternal forever. In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, life is a one way street. No matter how many detours we take, none of them leads back. However He earnestly implores GOD to make an exception for him and allow him not to part him from the image of Lord Pandurang standing hands akimbo on a brick, the image to which he is intensely attached despite having attained Self Realisation.
He implores GOD not to ignore him in a way a mother ignores her grown up child.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, butter churned out from buttermilk does not get absorbed in buttermilk again..Similarly a pearl which is the heart of Oyster never meets it again. But a Self Realised Soul despite having attained his True Self has a privilege to be the dweller of Duality, the doorstep of his True Self at the same time. In other words he worships GOD in Form since his passion to worship Him in image has not vanished.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Self Realisation is a perfect confluence of worshipping GOD in Form and Formless Worship, for just like infinite melodies spring from seven finite notes, the glory of Infinite GOD can be cherished through the Finite Duality, the Form Worship of GOD."

"It is said that "Then stirs the feeling infinite, so felt in solitude, where we are least alone."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, silence is the place of reflection and contemplation, and it's the place where we can connect with the deep knowing, to the deep wisdom way.
He says, leisure is the form of silence, not noiselessness. It is a silence of contemplation such as occurs when we let our minds rest on a child at play or a waterfall happening with a touch of spontaneity. Being absorbed in Name Worship of GOD he says, there is no repose like that of the green deep woods. In this solitude he embraces Oneness, feeling connected with trees, animals and sweet singing birds. He says, contemplation is not passive sitting in silence. It is sitting in awareness free from distraction. The very being of GOD is silence and in silence GOD speaks to the soul. Contemplation is our way of listening to Him.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, keeping all inhibitions at bay he is most comfortable even when his footstool is earth and his canopy the skies. A quilt to protect his body and a pot made of pumpkin for drinking water are least of his needs, more than enough to make a simple and self contained life. He says, listening to the winds he knows the time, for Wisdom sails with wind and time. Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, to be absorbed in the Name Worship of GOD in such an ambience is nothing but a true dialogue with the Self.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, sound is our mind, silence is our being. Truth is not something that comes from outside, it arises out of the intensity of our silence. He says, being absorbed in the Name Worship of GOD is going deep within the Self, to know the Self, to discover the Self, not according to anybody but as we are."

It is said that "Let Go and Let GOD."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about total surrender to GOD which is nothing but mind approaching its True Nature which is Pure Consciousness. He says, The Divine in us eagerly awaits us to surrender our instinctive mind to Him. What pleases GOD most is we offering Him our mind haunted by Maya, the Mistress of Illusion, That Which Is Not. He says, Self Surrender is transcending the ocean of Duality forever.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, we must honour GOD with everything we own. It all falls into place in the moment of total surrender to GOD when freedom and peace of mind comes and takes over our whole being.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, GOD wants our everything. Not just good things in our life but the ugly and bad things as well. GOD loves us as we are and will change us if we let Him.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, to say that GOD is the only enjoyer is to say that GOD takes pleasure in our pleasure as He has given it to us. He says, the sufferings and pleasures merge into GOD for the One who believes that only GOD is the real enjoyer.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, any endeavor becomes a worship when it is dedicated to GOD and performed with an awareness of GOD's presence.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, One needs to spend nothing to please GOD, for to bow to Him with total surrender is more than enough. He says, Surrender is the hardest thing to do but what becomes of it is phenomenal when GOD is the One we are surrendering to."

It is said that "Most people talk cream and live skim milk. If our hearts are spiritually underfed, we will produce skim milk."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about "Walk The Talk". He says, our lips may utter spiritual sounding words in prayer, worship or conversation, giving the impression of top-grade cream. But the reality is revealed by what is consistently produced in our lives. He says, our words and our deeds should say the same thing.
Illustrating with meaningful analogies Sant Tukaram Maharaj has shed light on few contradictions between words and deeds. He says,  proclaiming the omnipresent GOD, if One hates someone, the mask falls off and his True face is revealed, for hatred for someone and GOD cannot coexist.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like a little poison is enough to spoil the fulfillment of the meal, the contradictory action to words spoken needs to consciously avoided in the journey of Self Quest.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, a pleasing caress becomes a painful experience when a hair is plucked suddenly. Similarly One must not be get tricked by sweet talker, the sugar coated words, which fills sweetness in heart, when melts, leaves a bitter taste.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, contradictions happen due to lack of conviction and courage of conviction comes only when One is not pretending what he is talking about. And hence Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, inculcating courage to Walk The Talk needs to be done consciously on the journey of Self Realisation. "

"It is said that "Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart, for who looks outside, dreams and who looks inside, awakes."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, though Spiritual books and discourses are faithful mirrors that reflect to our mind the mind of the Spiritually Wise, it is up to us to subject ourselves to constant introspection of whether whatever we are pursuing on our Self Quest is really getting absorbed or not. He says, mere knowledge is of no value until it is put into practice, for knowledge that comes through experience is the Real Knowledge. Adorable is the One who walks his talk.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj has exemplified to elucidate this thought. He says, One must be careful of the smiling sweet talkers, for their tongue mouthing sweet words often hide the venom unseen to eyes.
He says, raw food softens when cooked but stones do not, for a hypocrite seldom transforms.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, all endeavors are worth only if One can enjoy the fruits of it himself. Illustrating this thought with beautiful analogies he says, a honey collected by Honey Bee by sheer hardwork is relished by all but for the Honey Bee.
He says, a miser grows rich by seeming poor. He puts his wealth into a coffer and hides it underground. Being reluctant to spend he saves it for those who will bury him. In other words the miser robs himself.
Illuminating the phenomenal role experience plays on our journey of Self Realisation Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, more than mere bookish knowledge, the setbacks and grieves we endure help us in our marching forward to the true purpose of this rare human birth, the Liberation."

"It is said that "Maya is a paradox, Real, yet not real, an illusion, yet not an illusion. He who knows the Real sees in Maya not Illusion, but Reality."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj describes his worldly presence as an Unreal One uttering untruth to the Unreal. He says, our perception of world is not the reality. What we see is but an illusion that persists because we have been conditioned to only know lies.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, it is hard to find true people in world where everyone is hiding behind masks. He says, the play of Duality which is itself an illusion burdens us with the sense of "This is mine " and "This is yours", when in Reality there is never any Two-ness that exists in the Supreme Oneness.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, it is only the human who wears the mask for its motives, for life is a masquerade and everywhere around people are hiding behind masks.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Maya the Cosmic Charmer that blinds us from the Supreme Homogeneous Reality, is That Which Is Not. And hence we are also not what we look like but a distortion of Reality. That makes whatever we do, be it singing or contemplation but the false notions, for a lie begets a lie.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the world we see is a web of deception weaved by Maya, the Mistress of Illusion. The spell of Two-ness cast by Maya, make us identify One who enjoys separate from One who has relinquished his worldly enjoyments, when in reality the separateness is Untrue. They are but the manifestations of That Which Is Not and hence Unreal.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, in the journey from the Unreal to Real, we are not supposed to learn anything new, for the Truth is what we are. This journey is just remembering and recognising who we really are, for only because of forgetting the Real, we have created our world of illusions."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about identifying a Saintly Being, whose footsteps lead One on his path of Self Realisation. He says, compassion towards all beings doesn't have to be taught. If One looks for a way to lift someone up and that's all he can do then it is enough.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, an unconditional surrender to the Saintly Being opens the path to freedom where One experiences the flow of life not through the narrow lanes of mind, but through the vast refuge of heart.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, only on the still calm waters of surrender, the reflections of clarity appear. The more clear One is about what exactly he wants, the more things will get sorted out to get there.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the pursuit of knowledge is never ending. The day One starts boasting of his knowledge is the day he stops growing, for the journey of Self Realisation is all about continuous improvement.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, a Diamond or Philosopher's Stone or a Cobra Pearl, a jewel in the head of Cobra Snake are all as hard as rock but that doesn't make them ordinary stones. Similarly Saintly Beings though resemble ordinary beings, deserve a respect of highest order. Similarly he says, it will be improper to compare Waters of small streams to Waters of Holy Ganga or Waters of Mighty Ocean.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like in a star studded sky, Moon and Sun are unique, among the countless beings in the universe One hardly finds a Saintly Being, for Truth is always hard to find.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, brave are those hearts who have courage to show compassion, else the sword in their hands is mere a hard metal."

"It is believed that as the journey of Self Realisation unfolds, the seeker becomes a recipient of certain extraordinary powers developed through his deep meditation and due to his awakening through spiritual maturity. In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about how these powers actually turn out to be potential impediments to the spiritual advancement of the seeker. He says, be it a blessing or a curse, it will always come true for the seeker who has acquired these powers. Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, a blessing or curse should not be subject to the whim of its giver, else he will surely lose the Spiritual Wisdom which has become instrumental in him acquiring these powers.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the recipient of these extraordinary powers is expected to view them just like One views  quickly fading stations while looking out of a fast moving train.
The fame and recognition One gets by undue display of these powers bloat him with false ego sense thus deviating him from the path of Self Realisation.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like a porter carrying loads of sweets on his back remains deprived of the sweets, a seeker who exercises his extraordinary powers for fame and recognition remains forever deprived of peace of mind and contentment from within which he would have had otherwise."

"Devotion is the deep yearning of the heart for GOD. To seek GOD is to feel devotion to Him. In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about seeking God through five senses or Form Worship of GOD as a better way to visualise the Infinite, for Self Knowledge ultimately emerges from womb of devotion.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the Wisdom of Self Realised Soul is nothing but Duality speaking in his masters voice.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, devotion of GOD through His Form Worship is a play of Duality which makes a dialogue between a common man and GOD possible, for at least initially One needs to see what he is seeking.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the life of a True Devotee itself shines as the message to mankind."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, devotion to GOD has nothing to do with getting relief from the sufferings One has to undergo due to his Prarabdha. He says, the inevitable Prarabdha can be exhausted only by experiencing it. Even GODS in their incarnation could not escape it's wrath. He says, devotion to GOD inculcates piousness from within to make One Godlike. In other words GOD envelopes the mind of devotee so much that for him GOD becomes Doer of all his actions. This shift of Doership from him to GOD halts the constant refilling of storehouse of Sanchit Karma, for Liberation is not a distant dream for the One who could do this.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, One must live his share of Prarabdha by remaining absorbed in the Name Worship of GOD. As the Prarabdha gets exhausted by experiencing it, the Name Worship of GOD shifts the Doership to GOD thereby unfolding the path of Self Realisation slowly but steadily.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, "I am the body" idea is the root cause of all our sufferings. Body which we mistakenly call as us is on roll call of death as soon as it has come into existence. And hence it is worthless to seek GOD for things emanating from our body sense as it's countdown to perish has already begun. He says, doing things assuming only GOD is the Doer is the way to be free from bondage of "I am the body" idea and hence the Prarabdha, the sole reason to be born again and again."

"It is said that "Waste no more time arguing about what a good man should be. Be One."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about our shortcomings which like a blemish may spoil the otherwise perfect picture. He says, in nature there is no blemish but the mind and hence a conscious effort to unwind from the mind twists is much needed if One wishes to pursue his Self Quest, for Self Realisation calls for a spotless mind.
Illustrating with meaningful analogies Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, mere attire doesn't make One a Self Realised Soul, what matters most is whether he walks his talk.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like food which is life saver becomes a killer as soon as it is mixed with a poison, venom of harsh words spoken by otherwise soft spoken person spoil his image permanently thus deviating him from his Self Quest.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like purity of gold ceases with a touch of other metals during jewellery making, One on his journey of Self Realisation must consciously chose the company he keeps, for it is better to be alone, than to be in bad company.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the soul resides in the body like a rough diamond, and must be polished, or the luster of it will never appear. Similarly persistence to attain Self Realisation refines the miserable piece of carbon in One into a purest form of diamond.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, warriors are not born and they are not made. Just like warrior, the seeker on his journey of Self Realisation needs to create him through trial and error, pain and suffering and last but not the least, his ability to conquer his own faults "

"Pure Gold does not rust, but the Gold Plated is a different story altogether, for if One on his pursuit of Golden Dream of Self Realisation choses to be in the company of someone who pretends to be Spiritually Wise, there is all possibility that he can rust at any time. In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj has elucidated this thought with beautiful analogies. He says,
Just like a frog in a pond cannot conceive of the ocean, One laden with material possessions is just unable to fathom what it means to be free from "I am the body" idea.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like the Crow imitating the gait of Swan loses even his own, no one can hide behind a mask forever. The pretense soon lapses into the true character, for solid character will reflect itself in consistent behaviour while poor character will seek to hide behind deceptive words and actions.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like One who rides not a donkey but an elephant is not afraid of barking dogs, the poise of a Self Realised Soul remains unperturbed by the noises made by shallow minds, for the fake people have an image to maintain, the Wise just don't care.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like all that glitters is not Pure Gold, we must learn who is Gold and who is Gold Plated, for in deep waters, you encounter only the Wise and Brave while in shallow waters, the ignorant and the coward."

"It is said that "In Truth you are a Feeling BE-ing, not a thinking being. GOD, the Divine is a Feeling Matter, and not a thinking matter. You can only Feel GOD, to know GOD Exists."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Feeling GOD is the way to transcend duality, for the devotee who feels GOD becomes GOD.
Illustrating with meaningful analogies Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the Divine fragrance of Deer Musk is unmistaken even if it is muddied. Similarly Godliness is unmistaken in the Self Realised Soul who appears to be in the world but is not of the world.
He says, it is said that fire lies in the belly of wood, hence when fire burns wood, wood becomes fire, for Eternal Oneness never ceases.
He says, streams of water of many kinds ultimately meet the ocean to become One with it.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the Scriptures as well as Teachings of Spiritually Wise all proclaim the Eternal Oneness of GOD, for only Trueness of the One who Feels GOD merge him in the ultimate Truth, GOD."

"GOD has a reason for allowing things to happen. We may never understand His wisdom, but we simply have to trust His will, for if we do so we don't have to worry about whether he is with us or not.
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, like a string to a kite, a wholehearted devotion to GOD keeps the devotee connected to Him forever.
Illustrating with beautiful analogies Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, while a kite soars higher and higher in the sky, One holding it by a string is assured that he can change its course at his own free will. Similarly worry fades away for a devotee who is connected to GOD by a string of wholehearted devotion, for he simply prays, let GOD worry.
In another analogy Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, a borrower pledges an asset for availing a loan, for in case he defaults the asset can be liquidated to recover the money lent. Similarly for the One whose wholehearted devotion to GOD is his greatest asset will never be a loser.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, talk unbelief, and you will have unbelief, but talk faith, and you will have faith. According to the seed sown will be the harvest."

"It is said that "And GOD will generously provide all you need and plenty left over to share with others."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the journey of Self Realisation is like a building under construction and the seeker on this journey is like a worker on construction site. He says, just like a worker is paid appropriately according to his work, the seeker on his Self Quest will always get enough to survive with dignity, for GOD  provides. He always does.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, One must use the sense of discrimination which is unique to human beings and spend as much time as possible on his Self Quest rather than on worldly chores, for then only he can make his rare human birth fruitful.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, life is unpredictable as well as short and hence every moment is valuable. He says, just like a daybook of daily spendings, the book of Sanchit Karma keeps on updating and seems always full unless One makes a conscious effort to stop its unending accumulation.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like a worker on construction site is paid according to his expertise, man is compelled to take his next birth according to the nature of his Sanchit Karma, either good or bad.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like a worker lays the foundation of building with his hardwork, the seeker on his journey of Self Realisation must do every action assuming not he but only GOD is the Doer, for then only he will erect the building of Self Realisation on solid footing."

"As the famous saying goes "Our suffering comes from our attachment to people and things, our repeated attempts to find something lasting where there is nothing lasting to be found."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about Karmic Cycle in which the unending cycle of deaths and rebirths happens due to attachment of desires left incomplete in past lives. He says, it is the attachment to desire, not desire itself, that is the underlying cause of all our pains and sufferings.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, our body is a made of mixture of five basic elements, Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether. As soon as One is born, he misconstrues the body as he when he is not. This is due to the spell of ignorance cast by Maya, the Cosmic Charmer which creates the illusion of "I am the body" idea, when in reality soul and body are entirely distinct entities. Despite the knowledge that the perishable body will eventually be swallowed by inevitable death, the powerful urge to identify Oneself with the body is very perplexing.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like One changes clothes, the Eternal Soul sheds the used body to assume the new one in the unending cycle of deaths and rebirths. He says, no Karma is without purpose, for it is fuelled always by some desire. He says, inculcating desirelessness from within is the only way to transcend the Duality of Attachment, for then only One can merge himself into Non Dual Supreme Consciousness.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, be it desires or attachment to desires, all happen due to "I am the body" idea which is the root cause of all sufferings.Doing things assuming that not he but only GOD is the Doer is other way of saying that he has become desireless, for self realisation no longer remains a dream for him."

"It is said that "GOD is the potter and the clay is Him too. I am just a wheel, spin me through"
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about Non Duality from the perspective that instead of considering GOD as the Doer he considers the Supreme indweller GOD Himself experiencing everything that happens in the life of beings.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Self Realisation is not attaining anything novel. It is only removal of all camouflage, for "I am the body" idea or "I am the Doer" idea are greatest of them all. He says, just like a ripe fruit comes of its age, Prarabdha is ripe Karma with which One is born, to pay past debts. It is that which has begun and can only be exhausted by being experienced. Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, life is a full circle and Karma is a vicious circle. While the former is existing till One is alive, the later follows him even after death. And hence to stop the present Prarabdha culminating into Prarabdha of future births, One must assume that not he but GOD Himself experiences all that One goes through in his life so that he remains free from the Doership which may drag him otherwise on his journey of Self Realisation. He says, a sense of Non-Doership towards One's actions is Divine Worship of spontaneous kind, for it will happen only when he will make a conscious effort to break free from the bondage of "I am the body" idea.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, we are, each one of us, that Supreme Consciousness and the ignorance of "I am the Body" idea. If we can get rid of the Maya or Ignorance, then we become what we really are. He says, the world is a mixture of milk and water, the Supreme Bliss of GOD Consciousness and the pleasure of sense enjoyment. One needs to be a Swan and drink the milk, leaving the water aside, for who looks inside awakes."

"It is said that "All things come to him who waits, provided he knows what he is waiting for."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Greatness takes time. It doesn't happen suddenly one fine morning, for respect is earned, not given. Illustrating this with beautiful analogy Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the false respect One gains by donating the grains which he has obtained by begging does not last long but the respect One earns by donating a part of harvest he has obtained through patient farming earns him a goodwill for lifetime.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, it needs courage and patience to accept that the state in which GOD keeps us is the most appropriate for us, for only in such spontaneous state of being One can experience True Happiness and Contentment from within.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, a diamond is just a piece of charcoal that handled stress exceptionally well. He says, just like diamonds which do not crack but cut, One on his journey of Self Realisation must be wiling to get cut, sliced and hurt. Inculcating courage and patience is the only way to transform from a common man to a Self Realised Soul, for Fire refines Gold and Pressure Creates Diamonds."

It is said that "Truth has no fear. Untruth shivers at every shadow. "An infant doesn't know what fear is. However as it grows up he becomes aware of what fear is. In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about inculcating an awareness of this awareness which is vital on the journey of Self Realisation. He says, there is nothing to fear except the persistent refusal to find out the truth and persistent refusal to analyze the cause of happening.
Illustrating with beautiful analogy Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, when the child is not exposed to the world of letters, the mystery creates wonder. While introducing children to alphabets, the teacher places pebbles on the letters. He discards the pebbles one by one as the child becomes acquainted to the alphabets so that in the end the child  needs no pebbles to identify the letters. The veil of mystery unfolds as soon as the truth is revealed.
In another analogy Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, a rope appears as snake till One doesn't become aware that what he is seeing is mere rope and nothing else.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, when One knows that there is nothing like an imaginary monster that exists, he becomes free from the fear the monster has created in our minds. The fear of a name increases a fear in thing itself.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, there is no illusion greater than fear. Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood. This rare human birth is the time to understand its true purpose, the Self Realisation, for then only we can become fearless. "
