"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the contemplation of GOD excels the desire to meet Him. No less than GOD is the man, absorbed in the contemplative prayer, whose longing perpetuates amidst the ceaseless contemplation.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, when the mind becomes Godly, only His Will unfolds."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj illustrates his Longing for GOD with beautiful allegories.

My state of mind he says has become like a baby who delights most by seeing its mother.

Elucidating with a metaphor of deep yearning he says, a Chatak Bird, a Pied Cuckoo, drinks water from no other source but the rain water only when it pours in a particular lunar constellation 'Swati'.

Chakrawak Birds fly in pairs during the day but are doomed for ever to separation during night. And therefore he says, his longing for GOD is like that of Chakrawak Birds who look for the Sun Light eagerly to meet again after the night of separation.

He says, my yearning for You O' GOD is like water is to fish or longing of a cow separated from her calf. 

He says, it is like a longing of a faithful wife for the moment when she can be together again with her husband or just like the mind of the miser who starves amidst his store, broods on his wealth, griping still for more.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, less You O'GOD, my life will be, but less vitality."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the Bliss of Supreme Contentment has descended upon me since Your Feet became fully manifest within, and therefore now I do not wish to do anything but meditate on them all the time, Blessed I am he says,to have this fountanhead of perpetual happiness, for it is truly the harbinger of ultimate Liberation.

He says, after long and ceaseless wanderings through countless lifetimes, at last I am on the verge of becoming free from the Karmic Debt, the reason to be born again and again."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj describes his state of becoming One with GOD Consciousness.He says, the True Giver, Enjoyer and the food itself is GOD Narayan, for He is the one who eats and also the one who feeds. And therefore no way it can be said that "I earned something and  enjoyed it, for the duality has transcended and the Supreme Oneness unfolds here, there, and everywhere, within this, that and everything.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, every word is He and the silence too, for GOD Govind alone appears to be vibrating everywhere.

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, when the discourse by the orator is intentional, the listener feels the fear that the orator may expect something from him in return. The orator may not believe in what he is talking about but he presents it for a reward. This materialistic attitude of the orator he says is catlike who roams around place to place for nothing but food.

He says, vainly is the spiritual discourse when the orator and the listener do it for some material expectation. Such alliance he says is as futile as the interaction between a deaf and a mute.

Illustrating with beautiful analogy Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, this fruitless interaction is like that of a measuring jug and the sack of grain, for both remain empty after the measuring jug removes the grain from the sack."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, nothing is fixed or settled, everything is a constant movement and evolution and our mind is no exception, for the mind by its nature is in a constant state of flux. No thought, no feeling, no sensation lasts for more than an instant before it is transformed into the next thought, next sensation. And therefore he calls upon GOD to take hold of the reins of his mind horse galloping wildly.

He says, no matter how much I try, i am unable to resist the temptation of mind to chase the sense pleasures, and therefore I look upon You O'GOD as my last resort, for  Your Grace never disappoints those who look upon You as their only hope."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, walking the correct path leads One to his destination. He  might have heard a lot about a particular journey, but only when he experiences it, he knows.

He says, just like the labor pains are unintelligible to an unmarried girl, the True Longing is a journey that must be lived to be experienced.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like the sun shines only when the dark clouds shrouding it disperse, the journey becomes the destination only when the Longing is fired by the eagerness."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, perpetual happiness descended upon me O'GOD with Your Realisation and the fearlessness dawned on me, for the True Happiness is devoid of fear. 

He says, the absolute surrender is the quintessence of the true devotion, for all the virtues are manifested in the One who has surrendered himself to GOD and all his vices vanish. The Truly Surrendered prays and let GOD worry.

And therefore O'GOD says Sant Tukaram Maharaj, I do not let a moment of this rare human birth pass without Your Name Worship, for it is the true panacea of the repeated sufferings."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, GOD Hari comprehensively occupying my mind manifest as His Realisation.

He says, just like a lingering taste of the delicious food tasted in the past tempts One to taste it again and again or just like the longing to meet a loved one never wanes, so is my yearning for 'Hari Naam', for no matter how many times I repeat it, the tongue tires not.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, GOD Vithoba standing hands akimbo on a brick is but my longing of the Unmanifest personified."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, talking about Renouncing the attachment to sense pleasures is easy but living it is a different ball game, for in the end, its not the talk but the walk that matters.

He says, if One proclaims abandonment of pursuit of material comforts in the interest of achieving spiritual enlightenment then it sounds untrue because the Renunciation is easier said than done.

He says, Truly Blessed is the One who endures pain and hardships of Renunciation stoically, for the True Renunciation is no less than taking a morsel of poison slowly.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, most revered is the One who lives Renunciation with courage of conviction, for only then the metal is ready for the Maker's Hand."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the consequence of One's action in the past lives decide the state of his existence. And therefore he says, praise no one for your state, but GOD, for He is the True Provider.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, all we are and have we owe to GOD Narayan, and  therefore waste not a moment of this rare human birth, a boon bestowed by Him, without His Name Worship."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, beware of those who are too absorbed in their material wealth, for the ignorant who are ignorant of their ignorance know not that they are wilfully taking the poison, which is same inside out. It never betrays. It only kills.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, stay away from those to whom the material wealth is GOD, for the snake knows not the kindly caress,"

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the root cause of the repeated sufferings is the illusion of ' Me', 'Mine', and 'I am this body' idea. Assuming the 'Bodily Me' as the true reality is like the delusion of the ignorant mind to see water pools in the mirage.And therefore he earnestly implores GOD Panduraga to save him from this impending catastrophe.

He says, we are like a traveller illusioned by a mirage. In ignorance we accept the mirage like appearance of the 'Me' and 'Mine' as the reality while the Truth which we reject lies within us. 

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, 'I am this body' idea is but the false association of the Soul with the physical elements. It does not exist any more than the water exists in the mirage. It only exists in our imperfect vision through the lens of ignorance or assuming ' That Which Is Not'."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, truly blessed are those who make every moment of their rare human birth worthwhile for its true purpose, the GOD Realisation.

He says, the soul can be born as any of the 8.4 million species, one of which is the precious human form, for only here the soul's consciousness has access to the most supreme form of pleasure - the Love of GOD. It is only in this rare human birth that One can consciously overcome the longing to material wealth and lust, the root cause of all the sufferings.

He says, the True Renunciation is not the selective renouncing of things or going to pilgrimages but consciously abandoning the psychological construct called the false ego sense.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, he is a humble servant of those who lay aside the budens of 'Me', 'Mine' and 'I am this body idea', for the Wise knows that they are not even his to carry."

He says, success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts.

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the fearlessness of the humble devotee in thrall to GOD Hari is because the desireless prays and let GOD worry. GOD Vitthal has become the seat of his longing.

He says, GOD inhabits the heart when One seeks Him with True Longing and nothing else.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, oblivious to the inconsistencies of the world are those who are absorbed in the contemplation of GOD Hari all the time."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, when I behold You O'GOD Panduranga, standing hands akimbo on a brick, the contentment from within dawns on me and even the idea of letting go of Your Feet feels unbearable.

O,GOD, he says, I sing Your praises and revel in the ecstasy of Your longing, for Your Name is but the crowning fruition of all endeavors."

He says, a glance at Him not only frees One from the sins of his past but also ensures that he becomes free from the otherwise endless cycle of deaths and rebirths.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the Saving Grace of GOD never forsakes those who take refuge at His Feet, for He becomes their constant companion."

He says, GOD is what we see Him as, The firm belief that 'Yes, He is' is the true support of our existence. An inquisitive but unaware of the true worth is bound to lose the treasure of bliss due to his ignorance.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the reward is unparalleled for those who savour 'Hari Naam' with Supreme Devotion."

And therefore instead of persuing devotion to many Gods, he has set his mind's eye only on GOD Panduranga in the journey from 'Me' to Him to become One with Him."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the entreaties by the Self Knowledge which comes searching for the devotees of GOD Vishnu are turned down by them, for they find it bereft of the sweetness. The more they push it away, the more it tries to intrude into their lives.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the knowledge of the True Self which is unattainable even with myriad of efforts comes looking only for the Truely Desireless."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like a glittering flint stone is far from a diamond, no pretension is forever, for everyone's true colours will show eventually.

He says, it's high time to look beyond the falsehood of 'Me', 'Mine', for GOD throbs in His Creation.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, wake up from the slumber of ignorance before it is too late, for days are numbered for the body whom we call as 'Me'."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the futile talk enervates but not the Name Worship of GOD, for a loud mind is greater than a loud mouth.

He says, the Name of GOD ever in the tongue of thought bestows the happiness unparalleled.

He, says, when  nothing but the Name of GOD is upon the tongue, it is like,the Divine Nectar raring to spill from within into the folds of mind.

He says, the All Powerful Giver of Life wants but a basil leaf and water from his devotee.

Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, assuming the Name and Form, the Unmanifest became reachable."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the Wise are propounding since time immemorial that our True Abode is the Feet of GOD Vithoba, the sublime essence of myriad of pilgrimages, which the Goddess Lakshmi treasures.

The unmoored ship of my aimless wanderings have at last found a sheet anchor in them he says, and therefore I have now come to abide in my mind the Holy Feet and meditate on them all the time, for it is the true annihilation of all troubles born of ignorance."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, on Earth, the land of mortals, where every one who takes birth must die, nothing pleases me more than 'Hari Naam'.

He says, sick of the mundane existence where we end up missing most of it, is like a sick to him.

He says, the glitter of gold and silver no more allures and precious jewels are no more than mere stones.

Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the women who hold people spellbound appear to him as but 'sows' or female bear."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the Name Worship of GOD Vithoba is the Divine potion for immortality. 

Let the tongue utter nothing but GOD Name Vithoba, for when One is in possession of the panacea of all ills, the dis-ease cease to exist.

Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, evil spirits can do no harm to the One who is fondly absorbed in the Name Worship of GOD, for their spell goes haywire against His Magic"

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the outpouring from within of 'Hari Naam' has now crossed the realm of my conscious thought so much so that the Name Worship of GOD is now happening instead of I am doing it.

He says, his ceaseless longing of repeating 'Hari Naam' is just like a miser whose mind constantly dwells on avarice and has an insatiable greed for riches.

Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like river Ganga ultimately merges into ocean to become One with it, the ripples of attachment no more surface on my mind ocean, for my mind has become attuned to GOD's presence and His calling."

"In a soliloquy Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Grace of GOD Narayan is more precious than whether I have enough food to eat or whether or not I leave  behind any progeny.

He aspires to remain engrossed in the Name Worship of GOD Narayan no matter what bodily harm may befall him or what predicament he may face.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, hurry up and do not waste even a moment of this rare human birth without the Name Worship of GOD, for all that we call as "Ours" in this world has expiry date."

" Man is but the product of his thoughts, what he thinks he becomes."

Elucidating this in this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like negativity breeds more negativity, dare to be brave, for One gets in life what he has the courage to ask for.

He says, GOD Realisation is possible only in this rare human birth and therefore One must not be afraid of going slowly, but be afraid of standing still.

He says, in spiritual parlance there is no dearth of wordly wisdom, but rare is the One who walks his talk.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, this rare human birth is worthwhile if even for a fraction of a second One thinks about GOD Realisation, for a single step in the right direction is worth more than a lifetime journey down the wrong road."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, let me not have the proximity of the One who constantly thinks about material pursuits or he who has filthy mouth or he who is bereft of compassion or the One who is ignorant of the true purpose of this rare human birth, for he may be physically alive but is sensibly dead."

In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, at last I have become free from the bondage of "I", "Me", "Mine" that held me captive for long. With the dissolution of false ego sense, there is only GOD Panduranga, the Consciousness speaking with Consciousness, the doer and enjoyer being no different.

Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, not even an iota of craving now remains which will push me back to square one."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the worshippers of GOD Vishnu believe that the universe is nothing but an all encompassing, immanent GOD Vishnu who was, who is and who will be, 

He says, the apparent reality of phenomenal world which appears to exist is actually unreal, for unreal is in the sense that it is not permanent or eternal as He is.

O'Devotee he says, do the needful at the earliest, for we don't know when this life is going to end like some things, left unsaid, can't ever be said.

He says, a worshipper whose heart is full of venom is the greatest hypocrite of all.

Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the happiness or sorrow experinced by a being are but the expressions born from the confluence of the five basic senses  touch, sight, hearing, smell, taste together with the five organs of action voice, hands, feet, anus and genitals, for both are parts of a single body in which the soul indwells."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the most venerable are the parents whose children understand that the true purpose of this rare human birth is GOD Realisation.

He says, a family having the virtuous offsprings who listen and try to understand the Wisdom of Spiritual Texts like Geeta and Bhagwat is a delight to GOD.

He says, I will be most fortunate if I get an opportunity to serve those who remain absorbed in the Name Worship of GOD Vithoba incessantly."

In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, let all propensities of my mind remain glued at the joined feet of GOD Hari standing arms akimbo on a brick, for like His joined Feet, His Grace is showered on all equally without distinction.

O'GOD, he says, let my only desire be You, else the mind is bound to play tricks to keep me distracted and ignorant.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, what we experience as our world and what we consider to be our existence are real in the limited sense and limited perspective."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj, a cowherd girl says, having forgotten my true path, I have mistakenly come to the market place of this worldly existence to sell my mind butter. 

She says, You have enamoured me O' Lord Krishna so much that I have forgotten where I stand, for all around I feel, its only You.

I see You here, there, and everywhere, within this, that, and everything, no matter where I go.

She says, fear is always of something, but when nothing remained but You, My GOD, the fear left me for good."

"This composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj is the soul's longing for spiritual awakening of a cowherd girl of Vrindawan, yearning for union with her beloved GOD Krishna. 

He says, a cowherd girl whose mind is absorbed in His Name worship  started offering 'Hari' instead of milk, for the lover and the beloved have become One.

GOD Krishna constantly in her tongue of thought, she is not aware of her body, or what is going on around, for she is like a river losing its name and form on merging with the sea.

Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, absorbed in His Name Worship, she knew not what people said about her."

In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, man is a bundle of desires. His life is like a play and this play revolves around one theme- Want and Desires, for desires are like a bottomless pit. None give everlasting happiness.

And therefore he says, we must resort to the Name Worship of GOD Panduranga, for only His desire, is truly the dead - end to the endless desires of more and more and more, the cache of True Happiness."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, worship GOD Narayan unconditionally and He will be at your beck and call to assist you on your journey from gross body to His realisation.

He says, GOD has turned the infinite Karmic Ocean into a pond. In other words His Name Worship brings the unreachable within reach. And therefore we must call upon Him to ferry us across it, for only He can make an impossible, a possible. The hindrances cease when we cast our burdens upon GOD.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the Grace of GOD knows no bounds and makes no distinction when One seeks Him with One Pointed Devotion."

In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, more than having merely the means to an end, what matters most is how we make effective use of the means to get the desired end.

Illustrating with beautiful analogy he says, we may have all ingredients necessary for cooking. But the food will be cooked delicious only if we make appropriate use of each of the ingredient. 

He says, war stories are exciting and fascinating heard than lived.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, nothing could be better than following the footsteps of a Truly Wise, for his Wisdom enlightens those who have taken refuge at his feet just like the lowly trees growing near the Sandalwood become scented with its sublime fragrance.In other words the means become an end in itself only in the company of the Truly Wise."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, GOD remains uncorrupted irrespective of who seeks Him, for just like a cloud which pours rain all over, regardless whether it falls on rock or land or water, the Grace of GOD pours in abundance to all his devotees irrespective of their cast, creed or religion.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj  says, the search of All Pervading GOD everywhere except within is futile, for the smaller than the smallest and greater than the greatest manifests only the way His devotee envisages Him."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, if our devotion is deep, pure and full of love, we can experience GOD Panduranga in our lives.

He says, all endeavors of the devotee become His, for GOD takes responsibility of the One who has surrendered all his desires and longings to Him.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, GOD makes things happen for those who have a longing heart replete with the unwavering faith that "Yes, He is", for the unconditional and selfless devotion enslaves GOD."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the Name Worship of GOD has blossomed like a tree laden with fruit of Divine Bliss in abundance.

He says, let my mind become a bird who pecks this fruit and relishes it, for what matters is how we make use of what we have rather than what would be.

He says, drink the nectar of 'Hari Naam' as much as possible "Here and Now", for tomorrow is promised to no one."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the Supreme Master of universe dwells in the depths of His Creation. And therefore he says, trust Him, keep believing in Him, for GOD is only as strong as our belief in Him.

He says, just like there is a seed inside of every tree and a tree inside of every seed, the Name and Named are no different.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the True religion is not to let go even a moment of this rare human birth without the Name Worship of GOD, for GOD has a reason for allowing things to happen. We may never understand His Wisdom, but we simply have to trust His Will."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, though bookish knowledge is often far from wisdom, no less Godly is the One whose every endeavor reflects the end.

He says, I would rather serve him who has Hari Naam in his tongue of thought and who remains ever at his post within.

He says, the Truly Wise knows all the nine forms of devotion, each fruitful in its own way in forming a relationship of trust with GOD."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, O'GOD save me from getting drowned in the Karmic Ocean of repeated sufferings. 

He says, take me O'GOD as I am, with all my inconsistencies, for only Your Grace can emancipate me from the mountanous wrong doings committed by me knowingly or unknowingly.

He says, I seek refuge at Your Feet O'GOD, for uplifting of those who have fallen from the path of righteousness and virtue is what You are doing since time immemorial."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, it is better in prayer to have a heart without words than words without heart, else rituals become GOD and ignorance has a mass appeal.

He says, unless we give a conscious thought to dispelling the clouds of ignorance, the repeated sufferings are inevitable.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, praise not because people praise, reproach not because others do and never be a blind follower, for doomed are those who turn deaf ears and seek their downfall by choice."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, when lust and greed no more lure, One is truely on the way of his journey within.

He says, half of life is spent in thinking of the past and the other half thinking about the future. The journey never truly begins. However when happiness does not elate or sorrow saddens, One is truly on his journey within.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, false ego associated with "I am this body" idea is the foremost evil, and reclaiming from this state of object slavery is the True GOD Realisation, the crowning fruition of all endeavors."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the ways may differ according to what One is capable of, for what he will sow, so shall he reap.

He says, One must not set fire to the boat  with which he crosses the river thus denying others the opportunity to follow suit.

He says, the healer keeps a wide array of remedies at his disposal though he needs none for himself."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, GOD Panduranga is the True Healer and the absolute and unconditional faith in HIm is the panacea of all ills.

He says, Faith is a gift from GOD and it channels GOD's power into our lives. When we need, GOD knows, when we ask from bottom of our hearts, GOD listens and when we believe, GOD works, for He expects nothing in return but His fond remembrance.

Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, His kindness knows no bounds when One lets GOD captivate his heart."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, what never fails to astonish is that no matter countless succumb to death all around, man lives as if he is immortal.

He says, it is not that we have a short time to live in this precious and rare human birth, but that we waste a lot of it chasing frivolous material pursuits, thus squandering an irreplaceable opportunity.

He says, rather than living in fear of it, we must use death as a motivation, for when we keep death on our minds, we can focus on what truly matters. It is up to us to become grounded in death to make most of this rare human birth, a unique opportunity for GOD Realisation.

He says, a man walking woods is afraid of getting robbed and hence calls for help. But if the most trusted betrays, there is no respite just like a King turning into a tyrant.

He says, though the reflection in mirror looks back at you, it is your soul that reflects back into itself, reminding of its Oneness.

"Nothing is impossible for GOD, for it is all upon His Will that determines whether or not a single leaf is going to move. What is impossible for man is possible for GOD, for only He can turn a dull mind to an astute or make a legless to cross a mountain or make an unlettered do a profound translation of a not so easily undertood text.
The Miracle of His Grace can turn a sinner into most virtuous or an evil change his heart.
However man relies more on his false ego sense than GOD, thus ensuring his repeated sufferings forever.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the Creation is but the Divine Play where GOD is Himself the play, Himself the player, Himself the playground, yet a Silent Witness to all that unfolds by His Grace. There can be True Liberation only if He Wishes."

And therefore he says, tether the mind to the Name Worship of GOD Panduranga and leave everything to His Wish, for that is the only way not to get trapped in the vicious cycle of temptations and their gratification.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the Subtle "Hari Naam" to seek GOD, the Subtler of the Subtlest, is the only way to attain the enduring natural poise free from worldly distractions, our true mooring which we have lost and gone astray."

He says, don't say that happiness is congruent with youth, for disease spares none.
He says, don't get carried away by glory and fame, for seeking happiness from the ephemeral is nothing but inviting the repeated sufferings forever.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, I beg of you to wake up from the slumber of ignorance before it is too late and do the needful, for nothing but absorbing in the "Ram Naam" is the crowning fruition of all endeavors and a gateway to True Happiness."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, naked a man comes into this world and naked he leaves it, for death makes equal the rich and poor.
The abundant riches the man strives for whole of his life give him immense sorrow in the end because he knows he can carry none with him after death. Though the worldly riches cannot, he can certainly carry with him GOD Name Panduranga recited when the death will be round the corner. And therefore he says, practice the Name Worship of GOD as much as possible so that GOD Name Pandurang becomes the last word uttered with the departing soul.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, man becomes who he surrounds himself with, and therefore rather than those who chase the frivolous material pursuit which mean nothing after death, One must seek the company of the exponent of the Name Worship of GOD, for even the lowly trees in the vicinity of Sandalwood become fragrant."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, man has through ages endeavored to call GOD by myriad of names such as Hari, Govinda, Ramkrishna and clothed Him with epithets just for the sake of expression. He says, going to pilgrimages, acts of charity, fasts, penances do not come up to the merit of Hari Naam, for the One who bathes in the ocean of Hari Naam longingly gets it on his journey within without going anywhere.
Illustrating with beautiful analogy he says, performances of rites and rituals is like tending the ordinary cattle. However Hari Naam is like the Sacred Wish Fulfilling Cow Kamdhenu, which transcends all acts of piety and charity.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, there is no other means of GOD Realisation except the practice of Hari Naam, the noblest of all virtues."

He says, the journey of GOD Realisation will not begin unless One makes a genuine, firm and steady effort to become free from "I am this body" idea.

He says, all passions and all delights take to their heels when One meditates day and night GOD Name Vitthal and drinks it's ambrosia.

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about the importance of adopting the teachings of only One Spiritual Master, rather than wandering from one man to another, out of curiosity and losing faith in the end. He says, in devotion One must listen to all, but follow one and respect all, but adore one.
Illustrating with beautiful analogy he says, a young plant recently sprouted will flourish only when it is watered again and again.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the sculptor wields the chisel to make the stricken stone emanate the divinity. However if he fails to pursue it to completion, the same stone becomes a means of defecation."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj cautions us from the willful blindness towards the preciousness of this rare human birth where "what we could know, and should know, we don't".
He says, what raises man above the animal propensities of eating, sleeping and procreating is his sense of discrimination that makes him see the difference between Truth and Falsehood, right and wrong, Eternal  and Ephemeral or between merely following animal instinct and seeking GOD Realisation. And therefore he says, do the needful at the earliest, for the next birth could be of a dog or of a donkey.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like a  land can turn from Barren to Bountiful by sheer hard work, sow the seed of "Hari Naam" incessantly to reap the rich harvest of GOD Realisation."

Elucidating this thought in this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, fate cannot succeed without efforts. Just like putting in efforts is in our hands, the end result not, it will be unjust to say that worship of GOD will happen if "I am destined to", or "I will do it when I will become old". Our inclination to follow the path of worship may be destined, but to walk on it or not is entirely in our hands, for all depends on how we regard this rare human birth as, a doorway to GOD Realisation or merely a mundane existence.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, One must consciously refrain from using "GOD's Wish", as an excuse for not doing the self effort, for GOD helps those who help themselves."

He says, we do everything diligently in this rare human birth except the persistent effort to seek GOD Realisation. And therefore he says, waste not a moment without repeating the "Vitthal Naam", to make this precious Hunan birth the crowning fruition of all endeavors.

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, we are free to choose, but we are not free from the consequence of our choice, for Godliness comes to the One who puts GOD first while the downfall is inevitable for those who rely more on the world.
In other words, when we make people the basis of our confidence, we experience rejection and disappointment again and again. But when GOD becomes the ultimate source of our confidence, we are never let down.
He says, One moves higher or cast into the depths depending upon the fruits of good or evil which he brings with him from his past lives.
He says, though the faith will grow not by chance, but by choice, the True Longing for GOD speaks for itself and needs no counsel."

It had five lack houses made of stone, seven lack houses made of brick, a crore houses made of bronze, copper and seven crore houses made of pure gold. However none of these worldly riches he could take with him when he died.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, man comes in the world empty handed and dies empty handed, all the possessions is just an illusion, That Which Is Not."

And therefore he says, One pointed devotion to GOD is a journey from suffering to joy, from two-ness to the Eternal Oneness or a journey from seeing the world of duality all around to seeing Godliness everywhere."

He says, I don't have to worry about "What will I eat" or "What will I drink" or "What will I wear for clothing", for GOD Panduranga is my provider. He is the source of life and He sustains it."

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, if what we do does not flow out of a heart of love, a heart that does those things because it genuinely desires to do those things, then it is ultimately worthless to GOD.
He says, devotion without it's genuine desire is like an embellished corpse or as futile as wedding of dolls, no matter how extravagantly it is carried out or eating sweet but without the need to balance it for the salty food eaten earler.
He says, just like a pretence not accompanied by attributes remains a facade, One needs to be virtuous from within to be called One.
O'GOD, says Sant Tukaram Maharaj, save me from the irony of doing the Name Worship of GOD, yet devoid of its experience."
