"It is said that "Life is a constant oscillation between the sharp horns of dilemmas."
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about dilemma of Karma or actions we all face in our life. He says, Karma is an action which all born beings have to perform until death releases them from this body prison. Man cannot live for a moment without Karma which is the action deliberately done with full knowledge and intention of the doer, and also in the expectation of certain results. Karma done in the ignorance of the true purpose of this rare human birth is a sheer waste as One loses the unique opportunity to seek Liberation, while on the other hand Karma instills a sense of Doership which strengthens "I am the body" idea which makes One a permanent resident of world of repeated sufferings.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, ignorance makes One waste this precious human birth in frivolous pursuits and in doing so the sense of Doership becomes inevitable, being an inherent part of ignorance. Thus through Karma One is caught in this vicious circle forever, unless he makes a conscious effort to break free of it.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, doing Karma in the name of GOD, making Him the Doer is the only way to be free from the cause and effect bondage of Karma, for only those who recognise this Truth can redeem their lives. They alone can achieve the goal of human existence, because the moment you start to wonder if you can, you do."
