"It is said that "Give it to GOD and go to sleep", but we do the exactly opposite. We forget GOD and believe in That Which Is Not or "I am the body" idea. In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about ignorance which makes us forget about our True Nature and which manifests as "I am the body" idea. He says, in this body centric thinking, One is overtaken by lust, greed, anger and sense attachment and becomes a materialist, but he forgets that the body he so cherishes is bound to perish and in the end he will have nothing left but only ashes. This forgetfulness is the root cause of all sufferings. The vital life force of this rare human birth which should have been used to attain Self Realisation is unfortunately wasted on chasing the unlimited desires springing from "I am the body" idea.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, GOD provides enough to satisfy every man's needs, but not every man's greed. He says, even though belly rules the mind, One must make a conscious effort to learn how to separate need from greed, for greed in the end, fails even the greedy.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, no matter how big house a man builds, his grave will always be of his size.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the life force in this rare human birth is not just to survive like countless other species, but to attain Self Realisation, for only in this precious human birth One is rewarded with sense of discrimination which enables him to understand the difference between need and greed. He says, in an effort to find meaning to life, until you find GOD, you live in vain."
