तुका म्हणे मना पाहिजे अंकुश I

It is said that the path of devotion is like a two edged sword, for this path to God Realisation is anything but smooth. It's like swimming upstream. Spiritual discipline and constant watchfulness over the deluded and conditioned mind is needed as an antidote to the afflictions associated with worldly bondage. In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about the path of God Realisation, beset with self created obstructions such as false ego and it's numerous tentacles. He says,
Devotion is something that cannot be imbibed easily. Only the resolute will be able to face the trials and tribulations and ultimately experience the Divine Grace within, which alone can confer the Supreme Bliss of Self Realisation.
Illustrating with beautiful analogies, Sant Tukaram Maharaj says,
Just like a wall erected on solid foundation stands firm or the well cooked food tastes well, treading the Spiritual Path, consciously engaging in the Name Worship of Supreme Lord Shri Ram, helps the seeker to adopt Self Enquiry and introspection on his journey to Self Realisation.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, though pursuing devotion is like walking on a two-edged sword, that does not mean One should shrink from pursuing it. On the contrary, One should think of that path as early as possible in order to make this rarest of rare human birth fruitful. Just like a spiked stick is used to goad an elephant into submission, a prod of constant alertness in confluence with sincerity, sustained efforts and determined pursuit helps the spiritual seeker to overcome the difficulties and temptations created by the deluded mind infested with false ego sense. "
