Detachment from the fruits of actions is a seed of contentment. The receptivity of the mind to True Knowledge comes only when the mind becomes detached. The work done dutifully assuming God as the doer inculcates  the sense of detachment which instills the tranquility from within. The lotus flower symbolizes the detachment from worldly desires and illusions as it soars over the muddy waters and blooms as an immaculate flower. One who performs duty without attachment, surrendering it's results to Supreme Lord, is unaffected by sinful action just like the lotus flower which remains untouched by water. In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about inculcating detachment from within as it instills tranquility of mind which is unparalleled. He says
Detachment from earthly bondages is the only way to grow towards eternity. Learning to let go of things is the only way to attain the Eternal peace of mind. Unless One makes a conscious effort to transcend beyond the body centric thinking, the haunting of pain and sorrow will continue forever and there will be no respite from the unending cycle of deaths and rebirths.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says that peace is God and God is peace. Adhering to the Name Worship of Supreme Lord Shri Ram inculcates detachment from within just like the Lotus Flower which remains untouched and the seeker enjoys the Eternal Peace forever."
