" The mind is more subtle than body. Unlike the physical body, the mind has no form. It exists as our thoughts, feelings and perceptions. Our senses are the gateway to the world outside. The things we see, hear, smell, taste and touch leave a mark on our minds. However senses alone are too inadequate to fulfill the desire. The experience of the senses makes it a fulfilling and enjoyable experience. In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj elucidates this thought. He says,
Mere the tempting smell of cooked food is not enough to satisfy the hunger pangs. Savouring the food is a complete experience. In the similar way seeking Self Realisation devoid of intense longing for the Supreme Lord Shri Ram will take the seeker nowhere. The passion of God is the experience most fulfilling as well as most rewarding which transcends the seeker to feel the Divine ecstasy. llustrating this with beautiful analogies he says,
Mere sight of water is not enough to quench the thirst. It is the experience of drinking water that is most gratifying. Unless One experiences solace in the shade of a tree, mere seeing it does not offer any comfort to the passerby. The peace One experiences under the shade of tree is the experience of peace of mind.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says that if One does not feel intense yearning of Supreme Lord Shri Ram from within then mere singing the prayer and chanting the Name Of God devoid of His love is entirely pointless. The intense longing for the Lord Supreme from within is the experience unparalleled. He says, One needs nothing but a strong longing of Supreme Lord Shri Ram from bottom of heart to seek the Eternal Divine. "
