एक पाहातसां एकाची दहने I

सावध त्या गुणे कां रे नव्हां II

मारा हांक देवा भय अट्टाहासे I

जंव काळाऐसे झाले नाही II

मरणाची तंव गाठोडी पदरी I

जिणे तोंचि वरि माप भरे II

तुका म्हणे धिग वाहाती मारग अंगा आले मग हालो नेदी II

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj feels perplexed when he sees people watching someone burning on the funeral pyre, yet do not wake up from their slumber of ignorance.

He says, for everyone who is born, the death is inevitable. And therefore do the Name Worship of GOD as much as possible because we do not know when our time will be up.

He condemns those who find attachment to the material world dearer than GOD Realisation, for in the end One has to depart all alone and empty handed just like he came into the world."
