In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj elucidates the thought 'Living in the world, but not of the world.' He talks about not the renunciation of action but renunciation in action with the spirit of detachment and not wandering around wearing saffron robes or self inflicted pain of austerity like sleeping on floor.
He says, the True Renunciation has nothing to do with abandoning the duties of our everyday life and becoming a recluse to lead a monastic life but consciously renouncing ' I did this and I did that'.
He says, the True Renunciation is neiher selective renouncing of things under the command of worldly prudence nor cowardly way of opting out of a problem of responsibility the easier way. It is not what we have or don't have, but in essence an understanding that 'Nothing is Mine.'
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, GOD Realisation is no less than becoming like Him, the sublime essence that encompasses smaller than the smallest and larger than the largest."
