It is said that " The quest of God is the coming to One's own Self. "
There is one friend in the life of each of us who seems not a separate person, however dear and beloved, but the very reflection of One's soul. In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj delves deep into the intricacies of Self and implores the seekers to enhance it's potential to become One with the Supreme Self. He says,
A kind Self is a fountain of bliss making everything in its vicinity freshen into smiles and beaming with happiness. Be it the feeling of elation or of bondage, be it a feeling of contentment or seeking Liberation from unending cycles of death and rebirths, the genesis of all of them is the desire laden Self.
It is the Self that supposes the Divine in the stone idol , worships it supposing to be a devotee. In a way the Self  worships Self.
It is the Self that serves a person, assuming notion of Enlightenment in him. In a way, it can be said that assuming as his disciple the Self serves Self.
The Self is the truth of who we are.
The journey of Self Realisation opens the gateway of Liberation to the Self, but delving deep into the world of desires, the Self may lose its dialogue with the Supreme Self and hence be subjected to its downfall.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says that One must worship Self as it is nothing but the very essence of all beings, "The Supreme Self.".
