"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, though honouring parents is a lifelong endeavor, One must turn his back on them if what they ask him to do distracts him from seeking GOD Narayan.
He says, beware of the loved ones and the material wealth, for all these attachments are transient and loss is inevitable.
About the oddity of deserting parents for GOD Narayan, Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the history is replete with examples. The Great Devotee Pralhad endured the torture meted out by his tyrant father but ardently pursued his quest for GOD Narayan.
Bibhishana, the younger brother of King Ravana, who spent all his time meditating on the Name of GOD, deserted Ravana and joined hands with Supreme GOD Shri Ram to free Sita from the bondage.
Bharata, the younger brother of Supreme GOD Shri Ram having condemned his mother Kaikeyi for sowing the seeds of discord, placed His footwear on the Royal Seat of Ayodhya, thus laying clear the fact that Supreme GOD Shri Ram was the de facto ruler of Ayodhya.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, all the religions unfold the path to GOD but the greatest is His Feet becoming fully manifest within or in other words doing the Name Worship of GOD as much as possible, the panacea of all the sufferings."
