"It is said that vivid imagination creates the presence of snake in a rope and the imagination is so strong that a person can die from an imaginary snake bite. In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about the inexplicable wonder of Maya, the Divine play of illusion, That Which Is Not. He says, despite being not at all, Maya seems to achieve the impossible. It makes that which is never existent and never real appear to truly exist and be real.
The Rope Snake analogy reveals both the wonder and preposterousness of this trick of Maya. The piece of rope lying on the man's path tricks him to think of it as snake.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like misconceiving one thing for another is an illusion so is distinguishing One as a Master and other as his disciple. To do so is utterly despicable, for there is nothing but all pervading GOD Consciousness encompassing the world entire. There cannot be superior or inferior in the Kingdom of GOD.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, behind all multiplicity of this manifold universe, the One Supreme Reality persists in all its splendour. He says, GOD is not external to anyone, but is present in all things, though they are ignorant that He is so."
