"The Nature that presides over the destinies of all creatures comprises of three Gunas - Sattva, Raja and Tama. Everyone and everything has all three, only in different proportions. In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about these three Gunas which are in constant flux, such that their interplay determines the form, quality and behaviour of all things.
Illustrating with beautiful analogies he says, just like venom of snake instills fear in the minds of people, similarly coping with an evil minded person having predominant Tama Guna, is no less than living on razor's edge.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, in the very fabric of Creation, all material bodies of universe are made of five basic elements Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether. However we witness the dance of happiness and sorrow in people according to the influence of Sattva, Raja and Tama Gunas on each of them.
He says, just like a rich aroma of Sandalwood gives it a sense of Divinity, so is the predominance of Sattva Guna makes One loved by all.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like an occasional single grain in the cooked food remains raw, One having predominance of Tama Guna, remains prone to do evil things even if living amidst good people.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, Sattva, Raja and Tama Gunas are other names of Goodness, Passion and Ignorance. Only a conscious cultivation of Sattva Guna unlocks the door to Self Realisation."
