" It is said that "Devotion gives birth to Self Knowledge as mother gives birth to a child."
Just as the stick that stirs the funeral pyre ultimately burns in the same pyre, a Devotee who prays is ultimately absorbed into the Supreme Essence that is inseparable from him.
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about this highest form of Devotion (अनन्य भक्ति) wherein the seeker is completely absorbed in the Divine Ultimate Beingness. He says,
By observing the divinity of universe through Devotion, the ego tends to melt down, along with the sense of being separate from others, for Devotion is a celebration of God Consciousness and the Divine in everything.
Illustrating with beautiful analogies Sant Tukaram Maharaj says,
Self Realisation without Devotion is just like insipid (tasteless) pudding made of sugarless milk.
Talking about the inherentness of Devotion in the belly of Self Realisation, Sant Tukaram Maharaj says , Devotion is like Salt. It's presence is not felt, but it's absence makes the food tasteless.
Devotionless journey of Self Realisation is like a blind man who may identify objects by their names or by touch but feels the incompleteness of experience as blind eyes cannot read.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, just like repeated cycle of plucking all strings of a Tanpura (तंबोरा) creates a sonic canvas on which melody unfolds, the Divine Melody of Self Realisation is unattainable unless the mind of devotee resonates with utmost Devotion to the Divine Supreme. "
