It is said that
" Even a railway engine is sent to the engine-shed for rest when the wheels become overhot. But, this mysterious mind with its thought currents originating from impressions of mind imbedded with latent subtle desires (वासना) flow incessantly towards the objects both in waking state and dream without a moment's rest. The expansion of this mind alone is Sankalpa (संकल्प) and Sankalpa, through its power of differentiation, generates this universe. "
The mind of Spiritually amateur vacillates through Sankalpas while a Spiritually Awakened is free from them as they enjoy Supreme Bliss in their state of Self Realisation.
In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj elucidates this thought. He says,
One becomes subject to bondage through the Sankalpas and latent subtle desires like a silk-worm in a cocoon. The mind assumes the form of anything it contemplates. One may subject to rigors of penance for myriad of years, but will be able to reach the stainless Liberation (मोक्ष) only through the firm path of annihilation of Sankalpas of the mind.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says that just like sea water even if stored in any container will be still sea water and nothing else, every castle, every statue, every painting and in short everything had its birth first in the mind of the One who formed it, before it received it's material expression or embodiment. At the root of any action, be it physical, verbal or mental, is the mind. It is the wall that stands between we and God. Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, pull the wall down through devotion and you will come face to face with God. "
