" In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj talks about सहज अवस्था, a state of spiritual consciousness, where the mind is stabilised in perfect bliss and peace. It is nothing but experiencing the Divine as all pervading, within the body and without, such that life is lived without pretense. As the divinity resounds and resonates within the devotee, the desire to become One with the Supreme Divine is fulfilled. He says the Divine is सहज. He is natural, subtler of the subtlest, simpler of the simplest, and spontaneous. He is pure awareness. In our true nature, we are that. And hence to retrace our steps back to this original state of pure being is to take the सहज parh or natural way. In सहज the worldly and ego laden mind resolves itself into the root within.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj says that the state of सहज can be regained if we only search it within the cave of our heart, while still living in the midst of the material world and it's so called impurities. If we only attach Ourselves with the Self within, and detach from the emotional attachment to the worldliness, spiritual success will follow effortlessly.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says that Real Prayer " happens ". The Real Prayer cannot be " done " as such, it just happens. When ego is defeated, prayer happens. The Self Realisation happens in the heart through the Selfless and Reasonless Love of the Divine, not through the head.
The Real Prayer happens only when One transcends duality. "
