" The purpose of religious rituals is most of the time to subdue the sense of fear lurking in the deluded mind, and to praise God for securing fulfilment of deep rooted conscious cravings as well as liberation. The ritualistic worship being an impermanent thing cannot be the source of everlasting happiness or bliss. Due to material illusion we are unable to understand the Truth, and thereby end up wasting life in exchange for worthless rituals. Inflicted with this chronic disease born of false ego, we make a big show of things like religious fasts and vows, pilgrimage. But the meek One seeks the solace only deep within. In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj reminds us that the Wisdom of Self comes only from attuning to the Supreme Truth within, all else is a passing show of Maya, the worldly illusion.
He says, there is the heart, and within the heart, there is a little house. This house has a shape of a Lotus, and within it dwells that which is sought after, inquired about and realised. Though old age comes to the body, the Lotus of the heart does not grow old. At the death of the body, it does not die. The Lotus of the heart where the Supreme Divine resides in all His glory, that and not the body, is the true seat of the Divine Bliss. The Self Realised Soul transcended beyond the realm of duality lives amidst this world of pluralities, yet he remains unaffected by it. His mind remains intuitively absorbed in his source within. "
