केला मातीचा पशुपति I
परि मातीसी काय महंती I

तैसे पूजिती आम्हां संत I
पूजा घेतो भगवंत I
आम्ही किंकर संतांचे दास I
संत पदवी नको आम्हांस II
केला पाषाणाचा विष्णू I
परि पाषाण नव्हे विष्णू I
विष्णुपूजा विष्णुसी अर्पे I
पाषाण राहे पाषाणरूपे II
केली कांशाची जगदंबा I
परि कांसे नव्हे अंबा I
पूजा अंबेची अंबेला घेणे I
कांसे राहे कांसेपणे II
ब्रम्हानंद पूर्णामाजी I
तुका म्हणे केले कांजी I
ज्याची पूजा तेणेची घेणे I
आम्हा पाषाणरूप राहणे II

"In this composition Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, the Realised Souls see GOD in us and therefore worship Him through us, just like when the Linga of GOD Shiva is worshipped, it reaches Him, and not to the clay of which it is made of, for Clay is not Him. And therefore he aspires the company of Realised Souls rather than becoming One.
Similarly the worship of stone idol of GOD Vishnu is the worship of the Supreme Essence and not of the stone, for stone is not Him or when the metal idol of Goddess Jagadamba is worshipped, it is the Essence that is worshipped, for the metal doesn't become the Goddess.
Summing up Sant Tukaram Maharaj says, True Devotion is like the water strained from boiled rice that rejuvenates. And therefore he says, worship GOD by being True to Self and with a belief that " Yes, He is", for it reaches Him, as the Essence seeks itself."
